Revisiting Coffee

Oct 08, 2008 13:46

I walked into Tully's in the Redmond Center the other morning early.  I was looking for tea to fill my go-cup.  Oddly enough, they were out of black tea.  They had green and all those foofy flavors, but not good ol' black tea.  I left, but being desirous of a hot drink, I turned around and, with a bit of apprehension, ordered a latte.  My first coffee since mid-August.  In the past, not too distant, I would have ordered a triple tall breve latte with one yellow sugar.  Starbuck-speak.  This time I asked the barista to make a tall latte with one yellow sugar (one shot, 2% milk).  (I first asked how they made a machiatto, and it is definitely NOT the European way, so I opted for the latte.)

I will admit it was definitely tasty.  I got pretty buzzed up though.  On ONE shot!  Yak yak yak yak yak.  And I have not had any cravings since, which I was concerned about.  (Coffee not being the same sort of addiction as tobacco, apparently.)

I still am preferring the tea.  Softer buzz, no kcal, not costing an arm and sometimes a leg, too.  But now I feel secure in having an occasional cuppa with a friend or for an occasion.  It was pleasant.  Except for the slightly too high, little bit shaky buzz.
