So
teacentral recently went through her LTO list inteview, and she posted a bunch of cover letters that she has done up as she got ready to send in applications to other boards. I thought I'd see about getting some feedback from everyone as well, see if there is anything I missed.
If you know of anyone who would be willing to lend an extra pair of eyes to this, please let me know! I have to send it in before I leave for Vancouver for 5 days (thursday morning at 6am, what!?), so I have been working on it for 2 days now.
Dear Mr. H,
I wish to express my interest in being on the Long Term/Ready To Hire list at the ________ School Board. I have been with the board as a daily occasional teacher since February 2010, and most recently I was in a 8 week long term at N___d Public School. I feel that I would be an excellent candidate for a long term or contract position as I am a strong teacher who is constantly looking for professional development opportunities, who consistently puts the quality of the education of my students first and foremost in my life, and who strives to create an enriching, engaging, and most importantly a safe and welcoming
grades, I have found that appealing to the students core interests and abilities allows them the classroom environment for my students.
It is my belief that every student has the ability to learn and succeed, and I strive to create an engaging, interactive, and stimulating learning environment that includes each student and their individual needs in the classroom community. Specifically in junior and intermediate freedom to be engaged, and reduces behavioural issues that stem from boredom and disinterest.
While I have been with the school board since 2010, most recently I was in a grade 8 long term at N______d Public School for 8 weeks from November 2012 to January 2013. This opportunity allowed me to engage students, and to administer curriculum in cooperation with the grade 8 team of teachers at the school. In addition to delivering curriculum, building units, and differentiating assessment and instruction, I had the opportunity to administer and mark CASI diagnostic tests and create report card comments according to the Growing Success document. It allowed me the opportunity to better familiarize myself with the curriculum documents and current board initiatives. I used top-down planning to create a balanced Language Arts unit that worked alongside the Nelson Literacy "Tech Then and Now" section, and incorporated literature circles and a points-based final assessment that allowed students to differentiate individually according to their interests and abilities, along with utilizing technology to achieve creative and educational objectives.
I am a passionate, dedicated, and energetic teacher, and I am always willing to take the extra step for my students and for the schools that I am in. I am excited at the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my teaching experience and what I can offer to a school in a long term assignment or a contract position. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Yours truly,
S. H.
