Yes, I should be writing a term paper.
In other news, we recently rented Rayman Raving Rabbids for the Wii. Apparently Jenn cannot sleep without the taste fo winning in her mouth, so we ended up playing until 2:30 in the morning (late for us snorelaxes). I enjoyed the hell out of it, too. It's basically a succession of mini-games (sort of a gladiator, prisoner-kept-to-entertain-the-bunny-proletariat set-up) in which you shoot, hit, throw, kick, or bowl rabbits, keep in time with a song, race on warthogs, and do any number of other unexpected things. Some were very challenging--all of them were inane. But just the right level of inane!
I don't know that it is purchase-worthy, but certainly rentable.
In short, good times!
In other news, the long-running rumor is finally revealed to be true: New Line Cinema IS making a
Golden Compass movie. I am torn as to how I feel about this. They've cast Nicole Kidman as Ms. Coulter, and she's certainly cold, beautiful, and dangerous enough for the part. I don't know--I'm always leery of adaptations of my beloved childhood novels. The video game is being released right after the film, and it's being put out on the Wii, so we'll see what they do with it. I remain a skeptic!
If you haven't read the His Dark Materials triology, you SHOULD. It's by Philip Pullman, and starts with The Golden Compass. Second is The Subtle Knife and third The Amber Spyglass (ha! I remembered them all!). Go, get them. Read them. Wallow in their philosophical, atmospheric, intellectual glory. Braingasm/bookgasm combo ftw.
This means that this summer I must reread His Dark Materials, and then read the final Harry Potter book when it comes out.
