New Budget

I usually don't talk about politics, but when I saw this, I had to say a little.

The next budget the President is proposing gives more money to defense and homeland security. I'd say some is great because we may need it, but when is it enough? If we would finally leave well enough alone in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring the troops home we wouldn't have to worry about it so much.

Overall, almost everything within the category known as discretionary nonsecurity spending -- things that don't involve security or entitlement programs, such as Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid --faces cuts or tight constraints.

So they want more money to fight a useless war when our elderly and those who really need help here get left to fend for themselves?

I agree with the spending in Katrina, but the state needs to help, too. I figure, though, the state government is so strapped for cash right now, but it could try. But the state does bail out the Saints quite often. [2] If they can pay for a team that consistently has bad seasons, they surely can pay for rebuilding New Orleans.

Sunday my roommate and I got to talking about how politics are such a messed up thing and how people like us get screwed by it, but that's something we have to deal with.

I know things aren't this simple, but they really shouldn't be so complicated.
