Back from the dead....

Ok, so I need to start journaling here again... I've started keeping a for real paper and pen journal... which also needs updating.

My summer: depressing. Long. First time since 5th grade that I haven't been employed over the summer. It's been a challenge, and good for me since this is my last summer break ever.

Dru's also been unemployed, which has been really hard. For the last couple of months we've actually had to ask for help from my parents for rent, because we've just made it to the end of our savings. Woot. She's applied for a couple more positions lately, and we're really hoping she gets one. Partly because no health insurance = no crazy drugs. Oh, did I mention here that I was diagnosed bipolar? Or has it been too long...? I stopped my drugs about the same time that school stopped. That's added to the difficulty of summer.
Life with D has been full of ups and downs. Lately more down than up, but there have been actual discussions lately (imagine!), and hopefully that will mean that there is more up in the future.

In better news, Dru and I finally went for couples counseling with the IT guy at the vet school who doubles as the school counselor. He's an ex-counselor by trade, and working with him has done amazing things for our relationship. We still have ups and downs, most of them my fault for not being so balanced at the moment, but at least now we're talking things out when they happen instead of just holding things inside.

In stranger news, lately we've been thinking more about post-grad school life, and we're beginning to think that instead of moving to Central Oregon, we might just pull up out here and move to Canada, eh. I've always loved BC, and it seems that vet tech jobs are available in droves in the Vancouver area. Yeah, Vancouver is a bigger city than I'd like to live in, but I figure we could live on the outskirts and commute. There are also several holistic clinics in the area that I might be able to get on board with. The best part is that the CVMA (Canadian Vet Med Assoc) basically defers to the AVMA on matters of testing for licenses and accreditation of schools... so both of our degrees would mean something directly, and Dru's VTNE scores would count, plus I could take the NAVLE locally and would just have to take a couple of smaller BC specific licensing exams when we move. Oh yeah, and all those crazy acronyms refer to tech and vet licensing exams.

Hrm... other than that, I can't really think of anything else to say at the moment....
