FABRICS
-very finely braided tweed for the neck loop
-chiffon for the dress, including the "corset". it's made to look like a corset, but it isn't. there's ruching up the whole side of the dress

INSPIRATION
Demeter, the "mother earth" goddess. When one thinks goddess, we immediately go, "Ooh! Gown!" But since she's a nourisher of youth as well as the earth goddess, I made something a little more fun and, well, young! The colors are obviously earthy. I made it go from light to dark because of the changing of the seasons, which is explained in myth by when Persephone, Demeter's daughter, hooked up with Hades and Demeter went into a depression, killing the earth cause of her sadness. Eventually Demeter rasied some hell and got Persephone back, but Hades gave Persephone some pomegranite (sp) seeds which caused her to go back to Hades for 3 months every year. Thus, fall and winter! Light to dark trsnitions shows the transition of the seasons as well as Demeter's depression.

Yes, I did research! Thank you, Wikipedia!

THE CHALLENGE
We had to design an outfit, ready-to-wear, couture, anything, inspired by a God/Goddess. There was a list and I chose Demeter.
