The Diary of a Young Werewolf Chapter Nine

Dear Diary,

Happy New Year. The castle is still plenty quiet sicne most of the student population are still at home. The Gryffindor Common Room has a roaring fire and I am watching as Harry tries to hold his own against Ron in a game of Wizard Chess while Hermione reads from an Arithmancy text book. My owl Reinhardt is perched on the arm of the chair I am now in looking over my shoulder as I write this down. He is a very handsome Tawny Owl who is very reliable and does his work considering he works for bacon.

I'm still trying to get Johnetta to talk more about her parents. I tell her that she should cherish the good times she had with them, and she tells me she hopes the Death Eater who did it burns in Hell. Yesterday she was sent to the Hospital Wing because a Slytherin in her year insulted her parents. Now I know they were only First Years but Johnetta is very capable of holding her own and I was afraid that had I not arrived in time there would be serious trouble.

Professor Snape was absent again today. Death Eater? Surly not. Spy? Highly possible. It will all come down to the Final Battle. Security around the castle is tight. Dumbledore is having the students practice evacutation drills, while in the D.A Meeting I stared in the cracked Foe Glass in the Room of Requirement and I did not like what I saw. The Shadows were gradually becoming less fuzzy and that scares me to death. I'm getting letters from mum and dad everyday now telling me to stay safe and work hard and "don't risk your neck for something that is not necessary." They do not know about the countless D.A Meetings of course and they think my excelling in Defense Against the Dark Arts will go the way of the Dodo. They do not know how wrong they are.

On a lighter note, they did enjoy the gift I sent. It was a picture of me sitting by the Common Room fire courtesy of one Colin Creevey. Probably the best picture of me ever taken (Colin is really good with a camera). It was just an added bonus that it was snowing outside. They were also asking if there was any chance of a love interest in my near future and do you know what I told them? I told them to keep hoping. I told them I had to much of a hectic schedule to keep up with any sort of love life right now. Wait until they read that!

Dear Diary,

The teachers are gradually starting to get harder on us students with each passing day. I do believe that the Seventh Years have N.E.W.T's coming up soon and I don't think I have ever seen anyone as hardcore as Hermione when it comes to their study habits. She even drew up study schedules for Harry and Ron. Speaking of The-Boy-Who-Lived, Harry has become rather withdrawn lately, even more so then he was before Christmas. He hardly talks on the subject of Voldemort and will often change the subject should anyone mention it. I can't say I really blame him though Diary as I have my own personal demons to battle with. I worry for my parents' safety as well as my own. My cousin Leena has decided to take my grandmother to America where they might be safe. I tried to encourage my parents to go to but they said they didn't want to leave me. They even declined my suggestion of a Secret-Keeper! All of Britain's Wizarding World is under a new shadow of darkness which leaves us with one choice: kill or be killed. This one choice has a death grip over the entire Wizarding community. The question is: what are we going to do about it?

Sarah.
