Martin Wood - Sanctuary
Ace producer/director chats with me about the new series, Sanctuary making its premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel this October 3rd. He lets me in on how they made the change from webseries to television series and even previews some of the episodes. Plus we discuss his direction of the direct-to-DVD release of Stargate Continuum. Special thanks to Carole Appleby of Kayro Edelman.
Podcast Link NOTES (minor spoilage):
At the end of the interview, the host, Tony Tellado, revealed that there will be additional interviews with the cast in the future, and that with some of them, the interviews will be done in character!
Martin directed eight out of the thirteen Sanctuary season one episodes. Brenton Spencer directed two episodes, and James Head, Peter DeLuise and Sanctuary's 'A' camera operator, Steve Allison (sp?) directed one episode one each.
Filming has wrapped for the season, but Martin will be working with post-production through January.
NOTES (major spoilage):
Episode #5 is Kush -- this episode will be light on special effects, and involves the cast trapped in a plane that has crashed in the Himalayas...with some creatures on the loose.
Episode # 9 is Requiem -- this will also be light on special effects, and takes place in the Bermuda Triangle, with Helen and Will trapped aboard a small submarine...and Helen is 'infected.'
They used the same set from Kush for the plane as the submarine in Requiem.
The witches from the webisodes return in Fata Morgana. Martin said the new episode is more cohesive than the webisode, and retains 40% from the original webisode.
The Sanctuary season finale is a two-part episode, shown a week apart -- and it ends on a cliffhanger -- per Martin, a cliffhanger with one finger!
Joel Goldsmith is working with Ian Browne on the music!
