Sunday means football. Thus, I've been avoiding the television is if it were carrying a plague. Wake me when there's a hockey game. Until then, I'll be gliding around the house, giving it a good cleaning, and listening to CD's I haven't in a long time.

I don't see how anyone could fail to credit The Beatles for changing the face of music, but there are those who do. I had a cup of coffee and a slice of carrot cake in a diner yesterday night. It's a friendly place that doesn't yell and scream when I come in barefoot, so I go a lot. If I take the last booth in the corner, I don't have to worry much about inhaling a roomful of second-hand smoke.

There's a jukebox in this diner, packed with obscure music. These days, anything not on Spin's list of approved bands, most people find disdain for. They call it "old school", with their noses in the air, and pinkies held extended.

(I don't mean to sound like a snob. I really don't. But when it comes to music, I'm so very tired of people whose careers have a shelf-life being ignored for something flashy and new.)

While you're busily searching for the Next Big Thing, keep in mind...there's decades of music laying behind you that could still speak to you just as loudly as anything else has. Jack White would love you if you remembered, trust me.

Chances are good I shouldn't assume, and it's not as though the film hasn't been out a very long time, but if you have nothing better to do, watch Dogma on Comedy Central. If you ever had a burning desire to see me stand on my head. There you go.
