Juri and Shintarō appeared together in this photoshoot where the theme was "hail fellow." Looking cool and adorable in coordinated overalls (I know, overalls should never look cool, but these two managed to pull it off), they talked about each other and their other friends. My favorite part of the interview was Shintarō's outright adoration of his best friend. Whomever that boy is, I'm sure he was happy and embarrassed to have Shintarō speak so kindly of him publicly. Oh, and for anybody whose curious, a "hail fellow" is a congenial, friendly person. It's not really a word that's used a lot in English anymore, but it's a good title for this =D.{Also posted to Jr_w0rld}
Wink Up 09/2011 Hail Fellow: Shintarō Morimoto and Juri Tanaka They’re good friends, but rivals too. It’s that sort of friendship-bond that they want to have. But how do they regard each other?
Shintarō Morimoto: The first time I ever stood onstage with Juri was when we were both given the opportunity to participate in Shōnentai’s [PLAYZONE]. I’d heard that he was the younger brother of Kōki-kun from KAT-TUN, but they don’t look that much alike so, coincidentally, Juri just had the same last name as Koki… is what I thought back then (smile). But when I saw them talking to each other I realized: “it’s true, they’re brothers!” We’re really good friends now. Juri always makes everyone laugh. Even though Juri is older than me, he entered Johnny’s after I did, so he always used polite Japanese with me. When I told him: “talk to me informally, yo,” he responded with: “I understand {in polite Japanese}.” (smile)My best friend, well, he’s someone who is nice, cool, funny, good at every sport, and is basically perfect. I can talk to him about anything. If you’re talking about my friends in the juniors, it’s probably Kuri-chan (Kei Kurita). We’re the same age, and we do a lot of junior activities together, so we naturally became friends. My requirements for someone to be my friend? They have to be mischievous, but serious about their work… that’s it!
Juri Tanaka: About Shintarō: Shintarō is cheerful and has a special aura. Even though he’s two years younger than me, I used polite Japanese with him because when I entered juniors, he was already singing at the front, and to this day he still seems like he’s above the clouds to me. We normally play games together, but no matter what we’re playing, I always lapse into using polite Japanese. Kentarō Yasui-kun told me: “quit using polite Japanese,” but I just can’t stop. If you’re talking about best friends, I have a lot of them! I can talk to my friends from middle school about anything, I’ve never kept even a single secret from them because I can trust them completely. In the juniors, my closest friends are probably B.I.Shadow and Yasui-kun. In Hip!Hop!JUMP we’re all close, of course. Hagi-chan (Hagiya) and Jesse are my sempai, so I acted restrained around them, but just before last year’s [SUMMARY] we became close friends. The staff said to us in an amazed way: “Hip!Hop!JUMP are really close.”
