So I know I'm a bit late on this, but I wanted to share my story, videos and pictures from the Central Park show last Thursday. Between work and my out of state friends being here, I haven't had the chance until now!
So my friend Suzi (who I went to all the shows with and know from PF) and Jarrod and Drew (who drove from Maine and I know them from PF and went to the RI show with as well) and I drove in in my car, because $20 a person for train tickets seemed to add up to more than parking and driving, though I don't know about that now lol. But plus, we didn't have to worry about catching a subway, train, and getting back to Penn so it was worth it. I hate parking in the city though, $55 WTF?!I got Hayley a copy of The Little Mermaid 3 but left it in the car. :( Oh welllll. Anywho, we walked through Central Park and found Rumsey Playfield with little problems. Got on line (around noon), and soon after they crunched us all together in a mass instead of keeping a single file line because supposedly the park was getting pissed or something. Either way, it was annoying and it caused people to cut line and be smushed all hot together and it was mad uncomfortable, so not the best idea.
Suzi and I had early entry, but since Jarrod and Drew had gotten their tickets last minute (didn't know they were going until we begged them to lol) we waited on line with them until around 3 and went over to the early entry line. Dude being early entry was AWESOME. It was in a beautiful counrtyard thing, completely in the shade, with benches and everything. You could see the stage, and see them soundchecking. It was cool and breezy and beautiful, so much better than being in the blazing sun on the ga line. So I was happy about it, lol. Saw a bunch of LJ bracelets but didn't say anything, haha. Anyways, we saw the m&g line too, and they didn't get in until wayyy late I noticed, which sucks. But when we got let in, Hayley was standing right by barricade! Everyone like surged towards her and my friend and I took this opportunity to get barricade, front and center! I so wish I had brought the DVD to give her at this point, I didn't know if I was gonna be able to since I didn't have m&g but she was right there!! Argh! (I had contemplated throwing it on stage if I hadn't had a chance to give it to her). Haha oh wellll I say again. Anyways, we wanted to talk to her but she had to go after a few pictures and such, because m&g was coming in. Chad was there! It was weird seeing them together in real life, but ya know. Nice that he was there to support her! After Hayley left everyone gathered around the barricade and eventually the GA line got let in. Our friends Jarrod and Drew were only a few rows back, which was awesome cause we were afraid they were gonna be too far back to get up front. But they weren't gonna be lame and be like, "Oh let me through my friends are up there" cause that annoys me, haha. I mean what, your friends are there, so? Does that mean you have a special priveledge to push past me? No. Some girl was trying to do that at the NJ show and I was like...oook you're pushing me because? Anyways enough of that lol. Onto the show!
Paper Route were amazing, as always. I think they are SO FANTASTIC! I love 'em. JT seemed very happy, I think it's because a lot of people were singing. Either way, they're all adorable and sweet dudes. I also got a video of when Taylor, Zac and Josh came out. I was so excited!
Phantom Planet - it was the second show my friend Jarrod helped Alex get into the crowd during Big Brat, haha. Because by this time, Jarrod and Drew were at the front. And for some reason Jarrod is the main man to go to when you want to jump into a crowd, haha. And when he was standing on the barricae, his crotch was quite literally at eye level with Suzi. We were all laughing so hard and she's like OMG HELP ME. LMAO. Anyways, that was the only part I enjoyed, really. Aside from lulzing that Demi Lovato was there, who I like not gonna lie and I was excited. I heard someone say,"oh my God it's Demi Lovato!!!" and I look over and I was sketical for a few minutes because she looked different and stuff, older. I guess it's a combination of things, but it was confirmed by someone in the crowd by me that it was her and yeah, obviously lol. Whatever I watched Camp Rock and liked it, sue me! But I got over it real quick, I didn't want to be rude and like STARE at her and ignore PP, despite the fact that I've tried many times to like them and simply cannot. I respect that they've been doing it a long time, but I wouldn't care to see them on their own, or listen to their music. Plus, the NYC show was the first night Alex actually said something different between songs, lol. It had gotten kind of repetitive to hear him say the exact same thing from show to show.
JACK'S MANNEQUIN!!! If you don't like them you're crazy...they are incredible. Andrew is such a god at what he does. If you don't like his music, at least respect him in the business and as a person and musician - he is incredible. And once again, another fantastic performance by them. What was great is, this was the first show I saw Andrew PERFECTLY CLEAR. His piano was set up right in front of us. I wasn't barricade the first two shows, and in RI I was but the stage was incredibly high and he was sort of off on stage left more than towards the middle. So to have such a perfect, clear view of him was phenomenal. I'm so incredibly happy they were on this tour, as they are one of my favorite bands and it was just amazing to - not only get to see Paramore every night - but Jack's as well. Some girls were big Jack's fans behind us, but I swear that on almost every song they were messing timing, words, etc up, and I was laughing SO HARD. They were being so obnoxious, but they couldn't even sing their songs right. Nice.
It was really irritating that I spent a bunch of this set looking around a security guards stomach because SO MANY PEOPLE were getting out because the crowd was too rough. My friends and I were lifting people and helping them out almost the entire set, and I was like wtf people I want to watch! I didn't mind helping, but seriously....go backwards to get out if you can, I'm sure you can manage, and I'm sure it's easier than my friends and I having to lift you up over us and get pulled out by security. At one point, this girl was getting out, and we thought we had her, but she kept going forward and there were no security guards and we tried to catch her and stop her from moving forward but she ended up falling and landing FLAT on her back, with a thud. It was HORRIBLE. Straight down on her back, and hit her head on the metal at the bottom. It was so awful. :( I felt so horrible, like I was sick to my stomach for awhile. And then security started yelling at us, I was like wait WHAT? You were the ones who weren't paying attention to us SCREAMING at you to get her, we're only trying to help. Security was good at times, like they were REALLY AWESOME about water, they constantly gave us water the whole show and were really chill about it, like that's nice of them. But at one point, a security guard tells me to put my camera away. EVERYONE ELSE has their camera out, but he just goes "put that away" and makes me do it. I was like are you joking right now? I still don't understand why he told me to, but I just took it back out after and didn't have a problem. Did security do this to anyone else?
So Jack's finished, amazing of course, and my friends and I spent most of the time inbetween sets continuing to help people get out of the crowd, but also getting acquainted with some of the people around us. I love meeting people at shows, if only as company between sets, on line, etc. It's just nice to have that connection. Durig this time, however, I was pushed out of barricade to the point where I only had my hip squeezed there, and I was hanging on by a thread. And who was pushing me off? Some chick that didn't even move the whole show (not until Misery Business anyway, UGHHHH). It's fine though, I eventually just let her do that and got behind Suzi, who is shorter than me so I basically felt like I was barricade haha cause she was and I was taller than her, so no worries.
I was soooo stoked to see them again, we all were. The tension and anxiousness I feel before their sets is one of the most amazing feelings in the world, the anticipation and gut feeling knowing I'm going to be watching my favorite group of people in the world singing back to me the lyrics that I live my life to, it's such a rush. And then the lights go out, and the light beams down on Josh, and so on...building and building...the intro into Born For This is so freaking exciting and fun, it's like I don't think I breathe from the moment it starts until I realize I'm screaming the lyrics and Hayley has run out and is singing with us. I'm seriously awed every time I watch them live. 9 times later and they still leave me completely speechless. I honestly believe I've never found an escape quite like watching them perform live. It's like I don't even think...I'm just living with their words quite literally in every breath I take. I can't explain it, though I imagine many of you understand what I mean.
I took a video of Here We Go Again, but the pit was full of photographers and security guards getting in the way, haha. I did my best to try and avoid having them in the shot, cause I am kind of anal about it. I'm disapointed overall in how it came out but whatever, it's nice to have.
Hayley kept smiling and pointing at all of us, it's pretty exciting that we're remembered, and it's a really good feeling. During When It Rains, she pointed specifically at me for a few seconds and smiled really big, all my friends were like I LOVE YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW lol. She seemed to point out everyone she knew, that's really cool! And in between songs at one point she said something along the lines of, "there are a lot of familiar faces here tonight! Especially up front." and she pointed at our group, yeah that was so freaking exciting!!! (I've been looking for youtube vids of this but haven't found one, let me know if you have please!) Lame, I know, but really...to know maybe they see our dedication, that we're willing to go to all lengths to see them and be there, at the front, screaming our hearts out...it means more than words can say.
I took a video of Let the Flames Begin, because at this point I can honestly say I believe it is their most amazing live performance to date, it is just SO INCREDIBLE with so much emotion, I can't even describe how I feel when I hear/see it. And I wanted to take a video to have for myself, and to share to everyone, to show how amazing they truly are. With the direction their outros/intros/live show/etc is going, I'm so excited to hear a new record, I just know it's going to be brilliant.
I was pretty much in tears this whole show, knowing it was my last one for awhile, and last one for this tour (which was just...omg. They killed it, absolutely). When My Heart started, I lost it. We had been talking to this girl behind us, and she was crying too. She was like crying into my back and stuff. Jarrod was comforting me the whole time, we were all huddled together, me hysterically crying, just all overcome with the emotion of the song and how powerful it was. It's because of Paramore that the four of us met, Suzi Jarrod Drew and I...and I just think, what if that never happened? I'd never have had so many opportunities that I have had. These friends that are so amazing, where would I be without them? It's strange to think that, but I guess I shouldn't have to...I mean, I haver them in my life and I have PARAMORE to thank for that...I could never thank them enough for all they've given me. Enough cornyness, back to the show recap...
A lot of people were singing EVERYTHING (outros, AWKIF included), and tbh it was awesome because all that stuff was not as well known at any other show I went to. I honestly think it's because it was NYC and they came by Long Island/NY a lot in the earlier days, so they have a lot of fans from a long time ago here who have hardcore followed the band for some time. Hence also why Hayley acknowledged that there were many familiar faces.
We Are Broken and When It Rains got me too, and Hallelujah, just wow...Hayley's voice DESTROYSSSSS. She just belts it out. It just reminds me of when they performed the acoustic show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it had been months since they had been heard live, and everyone was like OH MY GOD HAYLEY'S VOICE!!!11KNQIOFRI3GH23 and so in shock by it, that's basically the power and emotion she's delivered on this tour with parts like the Hallelujah intro, LTFB outro, etc. And the boys playing is so tight it's unbelievable. I listen to Zac's drumming and he is just so tight, omg. Firing off double bass and stuff in there, like it's nothing. Extremely impressive how far he's come. You can even tell in the difference between the speed with which he plays the bass drum in My Heart and how he plays it now...faster, stronger, more solid. That's just one example. Just listen to LTFB and you'll get the idea. Josh just writes the sickest parts. They all have such talent and you can just hear the growth.
With every song that passed, it was scary because I just knew it meant one song closer to the end. Crowd surfing happened every once in awhile but it could have been way worse, I mean I was front and center. I don't even know how bad the crowd got, because I didn't even pay attention, all my focus was on the show, I was almost unaware of anything around me. When Hallelujah ended, I knew it was almost the end. I also want to refer back to that chick that pushed me off the barricade, she had quite literally stood still the entire show. THE ENTIRE SHOW. And when Misery Business came on, then she decided to sing and move. It made me so mad!!! Argh. But I guess I can't help it, there's always gonna be those fans at shows, and who cares right?! As long as the hardcore fans are there being, well, hardcore lol. And I know a bunch of you were there, so awesome!
By the way, they all seemed really happy during this show, like joking with eachother and messing around. I love how playful they were on stage, and I definitely think it had something to do with them getting their plaques that day. By the way, HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! In our city! Wooo NYC ROCKS. Congrats Paramore! ;]
When the show ended, and I watched them walk off stage, I felt really weak. Like I just was so overcome with so many emotions I could barely stand. I was lucky to have Drew and Jarrod staying another day to hang out, so I didn't fully feel the withdrawal effects lol. But when they left, it was so sad. :(((( I'm still sad. But I know I'm so lucky to have them in my life in the first place.
So basically, this tour was incredible. Thank you Paramore for doing something so amazing, for putting on the most amazing live show I have ever seen. Thank you for adding My Heart to the set list and dedicating it to us every night on this tour. Thank you for being who you are.(Yes, I know, I'm not saying this directly to them, don't direct me to their personal journal lmao).
Did they come out after the show? My friends and I ran around the park and waited for like 2, 2 1/2 hours afterwards but never saw them, only heard Zac and Jeremy (I think) were being escorted somewhere afterwards. I think I heard Hayley had left as well, but I wish they had hung around!
So who's stoked for 2009!?!?!? Haha. Man withdrawal is gonna suck.

Sorry there aren't that many this time, I was more interested in paying attention to the show and enjoying it, living it while I could, then taking pictures. I think I took enough at RI! Haha. Anyways, check them at my Flickr! My photos from the RI date are there as well, though I did post those a few weeks back right after the show. Please add me as a friend if you want! There's not much up there, as I only made it a few weeks ago upon the suggestion of members of this community, but I'm planning on putting other pictures I've taken up. I have a question for all you Flickr experts: can I put separate folders or something within sets? Like, I have the Final Riot Tour set, but do I have to make seperate sets or can I group them within the Final Riot Tour set? And how can I arrange the pictures? I'm rather confused by the whole process, lol. All help is appreciated. More are going up as we speak so keep checking back! :D

Let's make it last forever,
Screaming "Hallelujah".
We'll make it last forever.
