* 1. Well ya see, there was this dark stair case, your boyfriend, my boyfriend and me...and you were pretty cool about the whole situation, taking the lead and all ;) Meanwhile, as time passed you became indispensable for giving me time away from the shrimp shooters and male posturing at faire. You are a great listener and don't take the unimportant stuff too seriously, while knowing exactly when something is serious.
* 2. I associate you with take charge, no holds bard change. I am so impressed by your dedication and achievement to adopting a healthier overall lifestyle.
* 3. I like your honesty and integrity. You always come at those two ideas from a place of kindness. I always know that I can talk with you and get how you "really feel" about an issue.
* 4. Fish eye tea!
* 5. I know you and Keith met on-line, but what type of chaty room was it and why were you on it in the first place?
* 6. Of my friends list, you are the last person I'd want to pick for seeing as how yours change seasonally. With that being said, today i pick the "twirly" one.
we met on what was called a "talker." it was all ascii-based characters, so no pop-up pictures, or sounds, or icons or anything. just a profile, ascii commands, black screen, and text whizzing by while 50 other people chat simultaneously. it was a hang-out place similar to a MuD (MuD where you play games and kill stuff like D&D in an ascii-based world) but a Mu wasn't a game place. our chat room where we met was called MuMu Land. (do you remember the song "All Bound for MuMu Land"? it was play on words for the song and for being a "Mu.")
anyway, my then-boyfriend was on talkers all the time tying up his phone line. i used to have to call the dorm rooms on either side of him to send someone over to get ahold of him. finally i got pissed off and sick of it, tired of bothering other people to talk to MY BOYFRIEND, and figured if i couldn't get him to STOP talking online, i'd join him. so i logged on, got talking to so many wonderful people, and i got hooked on talkers, too. (much to the annoyance of Marie who now had ME tying up the phone lines.) ;)
MuMu Land also wasn't a chat room where you go intentionally to pick up people. (it just sort of happened. lol) in fact, people coming around trolling for pickups, where the first thing they post about is their stats or "anyone looking to hookup?" for example, got bounced.
meanwhile, i had seen Keith, aka thewhitedragon, around, but i met-met him when i started an argument with him. i accused him of being someone else (you weren't supposed to have multiple accounts. little did i know he just happened to be logging on from the same place his friend was logging on.) so he told me i didn't know what the hell i was talking about. i fought back because i thought he was being rude and arrogant.
but we came to an agreement and we figured out my mistake. i apologized for making the mistake; he apologized for being so rude. lol
after that, we started talking as friends and kept talking. it wasn't long until we found out we had a lot in common. my relationship at the time wasn't going anywhere and neither was his. we realized we were looking for the same SORT of relationship that we weren't currently getting and looking for the same sort of person that we weren't currently dating.
after many months of talking (february '95 to august '95) i broke it off with my then-boyfriend. in september, 1995, we agreed to meet in person and i drove to Maryland to meet at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. the rest is history. i moved to Maryland in the summer of '96. :)
