I hate Fry's.

Okay, so I go up there to take care of all this shit and get my laptop back. The Service Supervisor gets my paperwork and does a check on the "current" value of the loaner that I am having to buy because it's in no condition to be returned. This turned out to be about $500 less than what it was valued when they loaned it to me. I'm thinking, "YES! Get to save money." So, I go over to the checkout area and pay them and then go around the store looking at things before returning to the service department to pick up my laptop. Go back over there, ready to leave, and they tell me that they were mistaken, that I have to pay the amount that the loaner was when they loaned it to me. Store manager gets involved and everything. I'm finally fed up, say "okay, I just want this taken care of and want to leave." The manager takes care of voiding my previous payment and tried to be nice saying that they won't charge my card till the other transaction is taken care of so that my card isn't hit twice.

This morning I actually got to thinking, "Wait a minute, there was a credit applied to the amount that I paid because of something else I returned." In voiding the transaction, they would have voided that credit. They better deduct that amount from what they say I owe, otherwise I'm not even going to bother with going back up there, they're just going to get a very nasty phone call from me.

Reminder to self: Never deal with Fry's again unless it's soon and within my warranty of my laptop and only then, do not accept a loaner computer. I don't need a THIRD laptop.

To make matters worse, we cannot get my laptop to hook up to the cable internet. Not even with a direct connection. So now, I have one laptop that will connect to the internet, but the speakers don't work and we have to use a separate keyboard and mouse to even maneuver through the thing. And then we have another laptop that has sound, works just fine, but it won't connect to the internet to do updates and such. I'm actually now glad that I didn't cancel my Netscape yet. I'm going to have to somehow get Netscape set up on my laptop, go through stupid dial-up again, and get any necessary updates taken care of and see if that won't help the problem of being able to connect to the cable internet. Grrr...what is it with me and problems with computers? Eh, at least I'm able to get online.
