Nobody paid attention in biology class
I think my biggest pet peeve is when people completely misunderstand Darwin's idea of "survival of the fittest." Survival of the fittest does not mean the person who is the strongest is more likely to survive (though it does contribute), nor does it mean those who are stronger, faster, and smarter have more of a right to live. "Fitness" in the biological sense means that the organism is excellent at reproducing. For example, my mother has 2 children so she is more "fit" than I am (having none), despite the fact that I have fewer health problems and am in better cardiovascular shape than her.
"Survival of the fittest" should really be "the person who gets laid the most and has the most kids is more biologically successful and will pass on more of their genes on to the next generation."
