I'm so stupid
I just realized today that I should have taken a large portion of my student loan money and put it in a money market account. At least I would be earning some interest on it.
I found a company, Everbank, that has a nice interest rate (for accounts under 50K the interest rate is 1.51%, though the first three months are 2.25%). I guess the catch is their minimum balance, which needs to be at 5K, otherwise you incur the $8.95 daily rate. :( Which really defeats my purpose, since I would like to have a lower minimum balance requirement, so that I could pull out more of my money when I need to.
I guess this means more research for me.
