Screw you, Murphy

So, these past few weeks have really not been the best for me. I've been so frustrated about not being able to find a room that I had trouble sleeping, I was slacking off terribly with my BA thesis, and I simply couldn't bring myself to care. Uni-wise I've been procrastinating as if there was no tomorrow, and I'm waiting for that to come back and bite me in the behind. Trying to catch up though, finally mailed my thesis supervisor and had a little talk with him in class today, have a meeting with him on Friday. Finally have a solid idea of what I want to do though, so now I need to dive into the library.

Thinks are generally looking up for me, but of course Murphy then has to come round and turn on me in a flash.

I've had a great weekend with Rick's and Niels' birthday party, which meant hanging around with friends, playing Starcraft: The Board Game 'til four in the morning, and playing Guitar Hero. Lots of it, though mostly not done by me.

Monday morning I got semi-woken up by my phone and got a little grumpy about it, but it turned out to be an SSHU-person telling me that if I wanted it, there was a room available for me. I got the keys this evening. So I'm finally moving back to Utrecht next year. Yay.

But today... today sucked. Because of the new public transport timetable I messed up my trains and arrived late for my class, but that wasn't the worst of it. After class I dove into Utrecht to do some Christmas shopping, of course went into the Broese and picked up a book for my dad and We always get our sin too which is a must-have for all self-respecting Dutch English students, and since I didn't carry enough change I used my debit card to pay for it all. I put the thing through the machine, typed my code and got an error message.

Limit reached.

Que?

I tried again, same thing. This was weird, I knew for certain I had enough money in my bank account, as I'd just gotten a paycheck. I gave my books to the guy behind the register and went to the nearest ATM to check it out, and it told me I only had less than ten euros on my account. I went back to Broese to tell the guy something was wrong and I couldn't pay, then went to a friend's house to have dinner. I checked my account on his computer and that's when I found out that my card had been skimmed. >.> I am a victim of credit card fraud. Bah.

My whole account was emptied, 110 euros, and though that isn't really that much, it's still a huge inconvenience for me. I called the bank to have my card blocked, and I'll get a new one next week. But right now I have no way to pay for stuff save with what I have in my wallet, that sucks. I'll get my money back (thank god for insurance) but that'll take a few weeks. Right now I have to borrow money from people, and I hate that. But ah well. It'll all be okay again, eventually.

Of course to top it all off the NS was screwing around and my train had nearly half an hour of delay, and Amsterdam Bijlmer is a sucky station to have to wait, but I got home. Let's hope tomorrow's better...
