Well, the house hunting is making good progress.  We've made an offer on a place we like, and negotiated a price we like with the seller.  We'll have the inspection done this week (including appliances, heating/cooling, roof, radon, mold, bug damage, etc.).  If it goes well, we could be moving over late April and May (we'll do it in stages); if not, we'll go back to the bargaining table or look for another place.

The house is not what I thought I wanted, but I have to admit that as soon as we walked in, we knew it was right.  It looks like a beige bomb went off in there now, but we can fix that.  Here's the link:

Some selling points:
3 beds, 3 baths (2 of them full) with a rough-in for a fourth in the finished and carpeted basement.
a HUGE honking deck!  You could land the X-1 on that thing.
Multiple project/craft rooms.
Large kitchen.
Fenced back yard (mostly deck, but enough room for an all-armor shed, etc.)
good natural light in all main and upper floor areas
plentiful parking
short commutes to my work, the Haven, and primary and secondary fighter practice locations and two gun ranges (pistol and rifle)
Loads of kids her age, including what seems to be some sort of pack made up of feral blond girls...
LOW crime rate area (although our due diligence checks turned up two "Megan's Law" types.  If/when society collapses, we'll be taking them out first.  I swear, those guys are everywhere...)
Great schools.

Plus--a short WALK to Chloe's new daycare, supermarket, cafe/icre cream parlor, good Chinese food, decent Italian, liquor, etc., the elementary school, the community swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, a wildlife preserve with hiking trails, and a karate dojo that with classes for kids as young as FOUR!  That means when she starts SCA youth combat, she can already have three years of training.

I admit that Spring Ridge is a bit of a "bonsai neighborhood," a work of artifice, sculpted and made to grow in a preordained shape as opposed to developing organically, which isn't very Taoist.  Still, I kinda like bonsai.  Now if they just had a library...

Also, I'm off to take a retreat with the monks at Holy Cross Abbey (Cistercians of the strict Observance) next weekend.  I'll be doing a lot of praying, observing the canonical hours with the brothers, working in the monastery bakery, maybe doing some fasting, and hiking ten miles per day (whilst praying/meditating--All about the multitasking).

Does anyone have any prayer requests?  Lord knows I'll have enough time to get them all in...

Plans are coming together well for the Easter weekend mini-pilgrimage 60-miler.  I hope my feet can take it!  I also hope that the weather isn't nasty and cold rain like this....oh well!

The current plan is for us to meet up in the parking lot of the Harpers Ferry Visitor Center  on Good Friday morning at 8.  It's right off 340, and I remember the signage as being quite clear.

Our weather fu has proven to be quite mighty for Frostburns past (sometimes almost TOO mojorific...) this time let's pray for  really "Easter" weather.  Blue skies, green grass, fleecy clouds, gentle breezes with days in the 60's and nights in the 40's.

Here we Goooooooo.....
