I've been taking care of things.
Today I went to the DMV and got a California license. I've never been to a DMV before that was so simultaneously chaotic and efficient. There were THRONGS of people. Heaps and heaps and heaps. I thought I would be there for years. But everything went pretty smoothly, though it DID take a long time--I had to fill out an application, get it approved, get a photo, take a written test, get it corrected, and finally get the application approved and receive an interim license. Each of those things required waiting in a line. But, I was in and out within an hour and a half or so, which is pretty impressive.
We got the keys to our SF place yesterday, so yay! The only piece of furniture we own so far is a piano. So... need to work on that. Hmm.
What else have I done? Let's see. I opened savings/checking accounts at Washington Mutual so that I have a local bank to go to. I need to slowly phase out of having my money at the local bank in upstate NY.
I had a job interview on Monday for a case assistant position at a law firm downtown; it pays well ($43,000) and has full medical benefits, but ... it sounds kind of boring. It's in the tax litigation department. Meh. Not sure I want it.
So, things are happening. I'm a bit lonely out here, with Raquel gone until 9pm at work, but that's just because I'm not working yet. Once I start working, I'll be kept busier, and won't have to rely on phone calls with people across the country for a social life (my social life here includes Raquel, Emmalie, and Lisa--just THREE people)! And in a month, Erin's visiting for a week and I CAN'T wait to see her, I just wish she could stay longer, or move out here... But I'm getting ahead of myself.
La la. Dinner time...
