So yesterday, we found out that our store was closing. Today the signage crew will be there hanging the 'Store Closing Sale' signs in the windows and re-pricing stuff to go. Apparently our lease was up in January of 2008 and that our District Manager was pushing for us to move to the new strip mall that is opening on Knapp and the Beltline, but ( Read more... )

Can you not collect severance, but just collect unemployment until they open the Knapp store? They could consider it a layoff... Can't hurt to suggest the option. How far off are they thinking of the Knapp opening, was that going to be around January when the Woodland lease was up?

Ahh see, that's the kicker. They were only going to open the Knapp store after the lease was up, but when Company X came in and bought out our lease they looked into how much our store was costing the company to stay open, and they decided against it. Apparently our store is very in the hole.

Are you going to attempt to be the Chocolate Mistress then? You could always work to the end, then take the unemployment and use the semi-paid time off to look for a joB in the field of that fancy degree you went and got yourself...

I applied to Godiva last night. Dianna told Ale who called Bill (the DM) and said to look out for my application. I also found 3 or 4 jobs this morning I wish to send my resume to.
