umm ok yes so i JUST updated but i am doing it again b/c this is something i thought of doing on the plane. actually it's not original at all b/c ppl do it all the time. but yes i was thinking how books are really cool and yes i want to make a list of my favorite books. and just fyi these are books that i read when i was like 10 too soo basically from my whole life. and i know that i am a nerd but i figure i go to lakeside so i can't be the only one. and yes if anyone reads this and feels like they want to have a discussion about books... that would be cool. actually i think this a reaction to my trip where i was reallllly bored and ran out of reading material really fast... (i read life of pi tho... and i was always reading becca's annotations and was like OH. richard parker is him! or maybe not. the animal one was the better story)
ok these are in no particular order and i will probably forget some. and i am going to include reasons for some. and alot of these are series b/c i love those...
1) the redwall series. um noah and i did a project on one of them in third grade and became obsessed. goood books. but not particularly like ummm physocologically fulfilling. just like war and animals.
2) animorphs. another obsession. bri and i would go to the bookstore and read them in like an hour but yes those were some damn good books. also not really fulfilling but very entertaining sci-fi for a 4th grader. (noticing a theme here?)
3) The DaVinci Code. just read this this year which is cool b/c i find that books i read recently im more critical of. but yes a very good mystery but unfortunately probably not the kind of book i could read twice. (actually not sci-fi fantasy but there is some religious ideas in there)
4) Harry Potter. all of them. def. fantasy but basically the best fantasy books ever.
5) ok i was going to leave this one for last but i am blanking on stuff right now so i may have to go look at my bookshelf and then come back. Ender's Game. probably my favorite book ever. it's sci-fi but it's def about alot more than that. also all other books in the series, but they aren't quite as good (except ender's shadow which i consider to be about equal). i wouldn't say that this book changed my life b/c my life stayed pretty much the same... but it's a part of my life b/c it's def. something i make connections to all the time.
6) ooh ok remembered more. Dune. not that great of a book. it took me like 4 tries to actually read the whole thing. but i liked it alot when i was done.
7) this is more of a genre then a specific book but biblical stories that are retold... orson scott card has a series about them, and the red tent which is also a really good book. as someone who is religiously-deprived this is a much more interesting way to learn about the bible than to actually read it. i just finished rebekah and that was really good.
8) Behind the scenes at the museum. sorry. great book. actually i barely remember it but i remember that i really liked it. and not scifi but kind of fantasy!
--- break to go look at my bookshelf ---
9) The Golden Compass. actually the whole series. great fantasy books... w/ religious stuff in there too yes i don't have a very diverse interest in books. oh yeah and supposedly they have a play of it in london.
10) The lovely bones. sad, kind of disturbing (the elbow... that always grossed me out) but a really good book. kind of fantasy but not reallly. more like umm magical realism? no. i don't know
11) A Handmaid's Tale. i actually found this book kind of depressing but still reallly interesting. and sad. and scary. yes. more religious stuff.
hmm ok well now i forgot more. but i am getting umm bored of this. so yes. it was kind of entertaining. if anyone has any suggestions for me to read that based on this stuff they think i would like that would be cool. i really want to read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. actually i went to a bookstore in london and they had soo many books i wanted to read. umm like the book of sex and the city...
