I tend to vote Liberal, but I'm behind this 100%. I think it would be good for the Green Party to be able to get involved in this sort of thing.

I spent nearly 10 years as a hard-core Liberal. Card-carrying member. Worked every election. Went to the 2004 leadership convention. I quit the party at the end of last year in disgust. Ignatieff pisses me off. I really did not appreciate the way he stole the leadership. I don't like the way he has tossed aside policies and principles just to prove he's different than Dion. And the way the party has rolled over for him just proves the critics were right: the Liberal Party does not stand for anything but getting elected.

You may be right, I'm honestly not informed enough to give a response. The alternatives for the mainstream parties are NPD and Conservative, and while I may possible consider the former from time to time, I'm really against Harper. Allowing the Greens (and perhaps later, other parties) the chance to show who they are may jostle things enough to change things and give us more options.

I loathe the NDP almost as much as the Harper-style Conservatives (Red Tories I can live with, but they're a dying breed). The NDP are the worst hypocrites in all of Canadian politics. I mean, hypocrisy is pretty much par for the course in politics, but the NDP take it to whole new heights. They are smug and self righteous and carry on like they're pure as the driven snow, but when it comes to elections they play dirty and cheat worse than anyone.

Really! I hadn't heard you quit the party. I don't think I blame you, I am not crazy about Ignatieff either, and I don't think he's who the Liberals need

Last December I cut up my card and mailed it to Iggy's office.
I don't appreciate having my right as a party memebr to vote for my leader being tossed in the garbage by caucus and party inner circle.
ANd when Iggy went west and made love to the oil sands... I was twice as quit.
