Mori walked through the halls, carefully retracing her steps. As her eyes scanned the floor, she couldn't help but feet a twinge of annoyance at the students in her way. Couldn't they see that she was looking for something

Old Time Sake <3riley_s_odNovember 30 2010, 04:52:10 UTC
After a long night of shenanigans at the Quidditch House, the halls of Painswick University felt particularly bright to Riley's eyes. He squinted as he walked down them, cup of freshly brewed coffee in one hand and Legilimency textbook on the other. He shuffled along through his morning haze, faceless students passing him by as he went.
Then, one face cut through the fog. He would've recognized that face anywhere.
Ex girlfriend he thought, changing his path fasted than a bludger catching wind of a wayward seeker, Abort, abort, abort!
He banked left, about to turn a corner when-- crash! --he collided with a girl nearly half his size. Coffee and papers went everywhere.

"Lost your latte?" he smirked, reaching down to pick up his books. He silently thanked Merlin they'd managed to escape the worst of the coffee splatter.
"It's been awhile," Riley noted, managing to keep his practiced cool as he looked down at the girl who held the better part of his sixteenth year, "All right?"

"Funny." It was good to see that he hadn't lost his wit.
Aside from a few passing glances over the years, the old couple had managed to keep their distance. They were both very good at keeping pleasant in small quarters. But they were bound to run into each other eventually. It didn't have to be so messy though...

He shrugged, thoughts of essays, texts, and exercises swimming through his head. Even with Riley's natural intelligence, the Honor's program at Painswick had proven difficult. The stress was natural.
"Well enough," he looked over his shoulder at nothing in particular, then back at Mori. Years had passed, but she still looked the same to him; same eyes, same lips, same dark hair. It was easy to see what he'd liked about her.
He turned to stroll down the hall, knowing she'd follow.
"I don't suppose you have a spare Legilimency book since you've ruined mine with your posh brew."

"Excuse me? I believe you're the one who ran into me." Mori looked up at him, her eye brows raised. Though, she made her to make sure not to bump into anything and prove Riley right. She did have less than graceful moments.
As far as she could tell, Riley hadn't changed much at all. He was still gorgeous but in even better shape. And, of course, still had the same attitude about him. She was being hit with a wave of nostalgia.
"But I may have a Legillmency book to lend if you've got Occlumency three notes."
Re: Old Time Sake <3riley_s_odNovember 30 2010, 05:50:59 UTC
Ah, a snag in the trade. Riley grinned, blue eyes gleaming, "I don't take notes."
He paused, wavering for a split second before making the decision to throw her a lifeline.
"But, ah," he coughed into his sleeve, then reached up to scratch the back of his head, "Dolohov. He's a grad student. Probably the best Occlumency and Legilimency student on campus. I'm such he could help you out."

Mori's eyes immediately lit up. After an hour of searching, just to find it at her usual table in her favorite cafe, her notebook was mostly destroyed by the collision.
"That would be brilliant, Riley!" she said, a large smile spreading across her face. Maybe his attitude had changed after all, at least a bit.

"Bril," his grin settled back down into a comfortable smirk. Riley stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out his wand. After a quick shrinking charm, his text books were the size of match books. He stuffed them into his pockets.
Speaking of match books..
"Come outside with me," He said, placing a hand on her back to guide her toward the front of the building. Nicotine beckoned, O'Dannihugh answered.

Mori dropped her dirty notebook into her purse and it disappeared inside. Then she reached inside and pulled out a plush cashmere scarf. It was cold out this time of year.
"Still smoking?" she asked. Under his usual musk there was the slightest hint of smoke that clung to him. She only noticed now that he was so close to her.
Re: Old Time Sake <3riley_s_odNovember 30 2010, 06:19:17 UTC
Riley pushed open the large, oak double doors, holding one open for Mori as the winter chill rolled over his face. The temperature change sent a chill straight through his bones.
"I suppose this is where I say, 'What else is new?'" He sent her a cheeky flash of his pearly white teeth before fishing his cigarette case from his pocket. A lone cigarette-- a clove --sat inside the silver shell. Where was Pucey when he really needed to bum a cig?
Riley placed the cigarette between his lips, then pointed his wand at the end. The tip smoldered and cherried at the end.
"We're all going to die anyway," he looked down at her, snarkiness melting his icy eyes, "I'm just going a little faster."

As Riley pushed open the doors Mori grabbed her coat and pulled it closer. She loved this time of year but she was not a fan of wind. Her hair flew in all directions, sticking to her lipgloss. After a moment she pulled it behind her ears. The last thing she needed was to look like a slob in front of Riley - or anyone on campus for that matter.
"As long as you enjoy it," she said, smirking. If there was one thing, about all else, that Slytherins were masters of it was enjoying life.
Re: Old Time Sake <3riley_s_odNovember 30 2010, 19:51:00 UTC
He took a long drag, letting the smoke out of his mouth in little rings.
"I wish I enjoyed it a little less," he flicked the end with his thumb, ash catching in the wind before it touched the ground, "I burned through a pack and hardly suppertime. I'm like a bloody chimney."
Riley watched as Mori's hair whipped around her face, and-- blast his bleeding heart --pulled out his wand again. He muttered a quick incantation, then the air around them seemed to stop moving all together. Riley marveled at how many uses there were for the common shielding charm.

"Implying something?" she asked, raising one eye brow. Mori reached into her bag, which held the same charm as Riley's pants, and pulled out a pair of cream leather gloves.
Then, one face cut through the fog. He would've recognized that face anywhere.

"Bugger," she murmered, brushing herself off. She looked up to confront whoever it was that now owed her a latte.
Riley?? Well, this certainly made things...awkward.
"Lost your footing?" she asked.

"Thanks," she said, relaxing a bit. "I could have done that..."

Riley put the wand back into his jean's pocket. He'd casted an elongating charm on all of his trousers, creating nearly endless pocket space.
"Brilliance is rare, Mori."
