Year-Round Schooling

When I was in second grade, we were asked what our biggest wish would be. Most kid wished for ponies or whatever big fad was out. I wished for year round school. This was in second grade! As elementary school continued, I still wanted year round school. School was fun. I learned stuff. I didn't have many friends, but I learned stuff. Besides, I got bored in the summer.

Fast forward to jr. high. I didn't really think about school, but I started to "burn-out." Jr. High was when homework started to emerge! Ack! Still, summer was boring. I guess summer is better when you have tons of friends...

High school. Burn-out by the second third of the semester! It was a miserable time. I'd be so done with school and then a week into break, I'd want to go back. I got a job, but it didn't help much. The library could only give me 20 or so hours, and when I got a second job, the two didn't mesh well causing me to walk and rearrange my room in my sleep!

Today in my C&I class, we were discussing alternative schools. She was planning on skipping year-round schooling, but I requested we discuss it. Everyone wanted to know why. I answered that I had always wished I went to a year round school. They looked at me like I was insane. Seriously though, it seems like a much more logical choice. Instead of two massive semesters, you have three trimesters with a month in between. Less burn-out, less boredom, and more retention of knowledge meaning less review time! The whole thing seems like such a great idea. The girl next to me said, "You should get a job," all nasty-like, as if I were a spoiled child. I have a job, but it's not enough. I need my school!
