Spring Break

Mar 19, 2009 08:03

I totally should be taking a shower and getting ready for geography, but I have an hour and a halfish. Besides, I never got around to telling you all about spring break!

I guess break starts Sunday after the MVC tournament. Not that Sunday was a particularly exciting night. I did laundry, packed most of my tings, and watched Across the Universe while talking to P online.

Monday morning was the train ride home. I was dreading this because though the train is twenty buck cheaper than the bus, it takes about three times longer. Travel ended up being pretty cool though. One of the girls I roomed with for MVC, KB was on the same train. It turns out she lives on the same train line from The City as well. Therefore, my four hour commute was much more entertaining. We talked about a lot of stuff. Her good friend B was turning 21 on Wednesday. It turns out her good friend B is also P's good friend B. P was invited to the party but didn't want to go because it was the first time he'd get to see me over the break. KB invited me to come too, so I said I'd see about it. Now that I knew some drinks I liked, it didn't seem to be too threatening... plus I'd know some people there. I got home around 2 which was lovely. I spent the day unpacking and just getting general things set up.

Tuesday was an interesting day. I was observing over at my old high school that day. While, during breakfast, my mother and I got in this large fight over something really stupid. I'm not sure how it happened, but it ended up with me being totally unable to cover up the fact that I had been crying with make-up and having to tell a story about dog allergies... which is true. Observing was interesting. The new band director seemed excited to have me there, but I am not a huge fan of how he runs his band. I did get to observe both the bands sightreading though which is a process I usually don't observe. Even better, I got to observe the percussion class prepare for individual solos. I just floated around watching students, making them nervous, and giving them tips when they needed them. All in all, pretty interesting.  That afternoon, I went to the dog park with my mother because I needed to talk to her and explain some of my theories about why I may get so irrational when fighting with her and dad... I don't get that irrational around anyone but them. As I was pouring out my heart to her, I ended up telling her that P and I are having problems with sex and it's really really bugging me. To which she replied "Well, you're going out to some kid's 21st birthday tomorrow. Have a few drinks, then spend the night at P's place and let him have his way with you." The best part, the whole conversation was not nearly as awkward as I had thought it would be.

Wednesday went much better. I observed over at the sister school to my high school. My favorite part here was that both directors introduced me in every class! I observed non-traditional band classes here too. Both bands were sight reading, and the orchestra was working on ensembles. Very good experiences. During the day, I did little. Mom and I worked on budgeting and I figured out my money... a scary but necessary thing. Then I got ready and went out that night. It was so much fun. I actually knew more people at the party than P or KB. There were two different groups: B's ISU friends and B's Boy Scout friends. I knew all the Scout friends because that's the groups P is in, and I knew all the ISU friends because, well, that's where I go to school. I ended up drinking two ameretto sours in a half hour... which was a very bad idea. I didn't get drunk, but I did not like the tipsy feel even. Oh well. After about an hour, P and I went back to his place where I completely failed on account of being tipsy. It was nice to just sleep there though.

Thursday was pretty quiet. Pat and I did something though for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

Friday was a rough day. It started out great. I got to observe my Jr. High School which was great fun. Then I went to the eye doctor which was not great fun. My prescription has gotten worse as well as my astygmitism. After that, I clipped the mirror off the driver's side of the car on the way to my dentist appointment. Then, at the dentist appt, I found out I have two cavities forming. I've never had a cavity in my life! I'm good with my teeth. And the car mirror cost 300 bucks. Ew. And I felt stupid for clipping it. It was a terrible judgement call. Friday ended all right though. P and I went shopping, and I found a pair of cute denim capris on sale for 20 bucks! Then I spent the night at his place which made everything just a tiny bit better.

On Saturday, I went shopping with my mom and my sister. I found this really adorable top at White House Black Market on sale for 30 bucks. It was amazing. I know fifty bucks for a pair of capris and a top is more than most people would spend, but I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather have less quantity and better quality of clothing rather than the other way around. We had lunch at Maggiano's with my grandmother. I love lunch with Grandma.

Nothing happened much Sunday. I just got on a bus to come back to school. Even though I broke the mirror and had to pay for it, I had a good spring break. I learned a lot and enjoyed being an adult for probably the first time of my life.
