Critical Care

The past two days in clinical I have done more than I have in the past two YEARS of clinical.

I've pushed so many IV meds, I've hung IV drips, titrated IV drips, I've dropped a naso-gastric tube, I've pushed meds and feedings thru NG tubes, and I've watched an anesthesiologist put in a Central Venous Line and monitored the patient while he was doing it (and the showed me on the Doppler the what veins/arteries look like - freaking awesome!)

I'm freaking loving Critical Care. You get to do SO MUCH and on such a wide spectrum and you only have 1 patient (2 on a busy day but no more than 2) at a time so you can FOCUS your care on your patient. I love love love it. I thought I'd hate it and to be honest, it intimidated the hell out of me at first - but I'm paired up with quite possibly the most awesome nurse ever and she's teaching me SO MUCH.

I might actually want to do CCU nursing instead of L&D now. :o

Weeeeeeeeeee!!
