Pass the Ammo is a very strange movie. However you have to have some love for a movie that stars Tim Curry as an oily Arkansas televangelist, Annie Potts as his nutty wife, and features the line "They gonna butt-fuck the preacher on TV." Also there were some very nice pyrotechnics, the Cajun sheriff was cool, and the music (by Carter Burwell) sounds as if it were all performed on the cheesy Casio keyboard we had when I was a kid.
So anyway while I was half-watching this little gem (considering all the crap that's been released on DVD, you'd think they'd release this one... c'mon guys, where's the love for the low-budget '80s cheese?) I started on my fingerless mitts because godDAMN the department was cold today. This is my first experience with non-acrylic yarn (does this mean I have to block it??) and reminded me that while I like knitting in the round, casting on and joining in the round is a giant pain in the ass, especially when the object you're knitting is so small that it continues to be fiddly even when you've knit enough to give it some shape. I really need to consider this "magic loop" thing because there are needle ends sticking out all over the place and it's bugging me.
The directions didn't give a particular gauge so, knowing my own highly-strung tendencies, as usual I used the next size up of needles and so far it seems to be a reasonable size, though for some reason it's not coming out crazy-tight like most of my knitting. Weird. I do like the softness of the yarn, though.
