Post 13, 7/25/09, 1500: Fun with Sour Things

Jul 25, 2009 15:07

Way back when my kidneys first gave out, someone once asked me, "Have you tried cranberry juice?"

...

There's kind of a difference between "urinary tract infection" and "complete renal failure." Just for the record.

Anyway I do drink cranberry juice, but I always have, and the less added sugar the better! Since I managed to lose my bottle of water sometime between 9 AM and now I have a bottle of cranberry juice instead. Thanks to my transplant drugs I'm not allowed either grapefruit or pomegranate anymore (it interferes with the drug, which builds up, which causes side effects...). I can eat starfruit again--you're not allowed to have it on dialysis because it has some bizarre chemical in it that won't clear through dialysis and therefore builds up, makes you insane, and then kills you. I'm not all that thrilled because starfruit is nasty.

But since I can't have the other sour fruits, I have cranberry juice.

Back to the couch!
