OOB and the Threat of the Hideous Sprawl Monster!

OK, here's another one of my summer trips -- taking my teenaged nieces to Old Orchard Beach. They had never been, and I hadn't been since I was their age. Was so much fun. I couldn't believe I fell right back into Skeeball addiction again.

It was good to see the Grandma "Gypsy lady" still telling fortunes.

But you could also have your fortune "read" by this brightly colored contraption.

Speaking of fortune, here is one of my nieces with her pirate loot!

After I got tired of Skeeball, I decided to take a break at the shooting gallery,
another one of my childhood favorites.

But I made the mistake of taking a picture with a flash, which set the
whole gallery a-hopping! I quickly scuttled away, but returned after more
Skeeball to shoot some more. (I forgot how much I love shooting
inanimate objects).

While my non-Goth nieces sunned themselves, my paler niece and I took refuge
under the boardwalk, where she and I people-watched in the shadows.

It's amazing to be standing under a structure such as this, something
that's withstood years of pounding surf.

On our way back, we took in the quaint, touristy shops (not the beer one maybe when they
are of age), and I reminisced about how there was once such things near our hometown,
Innsmouth, before the hideous sprawl monster made it's way up from the depths of hell.

But that's another story...
