Shades of Riverdale -- but different!

Fabulous BBQ last night. All in all, most everybody got along (though there were a couple of boyfriend/husband-types who were being fussy wet-blankets) -- which, given some of the famous Allston gatherings where some of the mixes of people I invited were especially volatile, it was a very nice change to have pretty much everyone getting along. (I had invited a mix of my Pagan friends, Raqs Gothique friends, Classics friends, Hippie friends and even Comedians -- a reflection of the circles I hang out in these days.)

The food was fabulous! Thanks to GoSeaDogs for doing some awesome grilling! We had plenty of vegetarian dishes to go 'round, so nobody went away hungry.

The festivities started to wind down relatively early (11-12'ish), probably because I had a little too much to drink the night before at Plague (those yummy rum drinks brings out the pirate in me -- yo ho ho!). This wouldn't be the first time I've hosted a party slightly hungover -- I think that is Dionysus' way of keeping me from making an ass out of myself in front of my friends. If I wasn't so hungover, I probably would have drank too much, and possibly risk saying something really off the wall -- which is fine in certain circles, but I was trying to cultivate connections between folks. Everyone was chatting so much, I could easily flit from one conversation to another. A perfect night for a social introvert like myself!

Of course I forgot to take pictures of the gathering. But I did take some pics of my pirate booty (i.e., birthday gifts), which I will post in my next post.

Thanks to all my friends who came by. I loved having you all there!

My new favorite drink -- I call
it a "creamsicle". Quite yummy!
The secret ingredient is carrot juice!
