The further adventures in Skeksis construction!!!
Haha! I bet you thought I'd given up on this project, lost interest, shelved it for good!!! Nope. I just need to put things aside for a while some times, and come back to them in spurts when the mood takes me.
A couple things have happened since I last updated, the first being that his head has been almost entirely painted, and his teeth seated in his mouth. Unfortunately I don't have pictures yet, I want to get some antiquing to give his wrinkles some more depth, and re-drybrush him first, then I'll post more piccies.
The teeth are a damned pain in the ass. I'm gonna have to continuously re-glue those fuckers in. I have to keep a paint brush in his mouth so the weight doesn't loosen them any more than a couple of them already are, but just use of the puppet is gonna make those things gradually fall out. I'll just have to keep an eye on them, and pocket any that do drop before I can re-root them. ~Pouts~
Also, I have all five panels covered in fabric to make the carapace that will hide my human head. Also no pics yet, I'll take those once I have them mounted together. It'll look something like a shiny purple version of the Sydney Opera House on my shoulders. The fabric I used to cover them is really sweet. It's a metallic purple, dual layer fabric with runs in the upper layer, that sort of make it look like corrupted flesh. Watch for the same fabric (in dark gold) on Kaede-san's new costume!! (Kaede-san being the loverly bassist of the ever wonderful and talented BLOOD) I paid 12 bucks a yard USD for my length of fabric, I wonder what that stuff must have cost in Japan, everything seems to be two to five times more expensive over there... -_-; I find it a cool coincidence though. ^_^ I saw the pics of BLOOD and was like... "Hey! That's my Skeksis' skin on Kaede's sleeve!" :3 I'm a dork, I know.
Andyway, time for me to wrap this one up. Hopefully I'll get some more of SkekZir put together soon, and I promise I'll take pictures next time!
