Your comments always mean so much to me. Thank you for the wonderful feedback. You're so right: this is a love letter to John and Lestrade. (I am such a one-trick pony! LOL.) I'm incredibly relieved that you found the violence to be fitting for the story; I didn't want it to seem gratuitous, and at the same time I wanted it to seem plausible that Moriarty would "pull his punches" and limit what was done to the D.I. It thrills me that you say this seems to have a "huge heart," because I think John Watson does, and I really hoped it would come through in his POV. At the same time, I didn't want to become oversentimental or melodramatic, so your words were most reassuring. (Also, this was my first attempt at writing Mycroft - well, conscious, that is. Truly intimidating! And yet strangely fun.)

In short, you've made my day, and I'm grateful for your time and your words. As Martin Freeman said yesterday at the BAFTAs, I'm "quite chuffed," so thank you!

I'm so very glad this worked for you. I'm such a sucker for the stoic, stiff upper lip characters. I really adore your description of how they are keeping secrets from each other because of "love and admiration and respect and loyalty."
