Finally

The remaining rail arrived today. When it had not arrived by Tuesday night, Dan placed a call the dealer informing him of same. The next day,Wednesday, about an hour or so after I left for work, we got a call; the damn thing hadn't even been shipped yet and it was going to be shipped that day. Needless to say, I was more than a little peeved. Another call was placed to the dealer stating that if I was not able to sleep in my new bed by Friday night, he could come and pick up the whole set.

The rail was here this morning at 8 am. I cannot say whether or not the last phone call had a bearing on this turn of events, while co relation does not imply causality, but my rail was here, and that is all that matters.

So after my morning work out, we started to put the bed together. We lowered the box spring into the frame... and it fell down to the floor. the bed frame was 63 inches and the box spring was 62. I was beginning to think we were cursed. However, my ever resourceful Dan retired to his workshop where he crafted some bed slats. The bed went together after that like a charm, and it waits with clean sheets and duvet.

Spook doesn't know what to think of this. Our old bed was a waterbed, with the bladder removed about 9 years ago, and a queen size mattress in place. It had a book case headboard, and drawers underneath and was Spook's very favourite safe hiding spot. He could go behind the bed and down between the drawers, and he, black cat that he is, could sit in there and no one could see him without the use of a flashlight.

I think he will get used to it. There are still several dark corners in closets for hiding, not to mention the pagoda on the cat tree.

Off we went to Moncton to do some shopping. We stopped by a brew store and got another carboy, and some carboy handles. So this means, if I so desire, I can start a batch of Chianti this week.

We also started stocking up on some stuff at Costco for the party. Got some really good pate`, mushrooms for making some tiny mushroom turnovers and other things.

I have to admit that I am looking forward to the holiday season, though I will likely have to work either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Possibly both, but that doesn't bother me much. I would like, though to have Christmas Eve off with Dan. I requested it, and hope it works out that way.
Last year, I was pretty much shell shocked at this time. The stress of buying the house, getting everything in order, packing, then unpacking. I think I was pretty much a basket case, but a functioning basket case. This year is better though and I am looking forward to a real tree.

cool yule, c'est ma vie
