I have four days off this week. This morning, I got up, worked out on my eliptical trainer, checked to see if my first batch of wine was still burbling away in the primary fermenter and had a shower.
I am now sitting here in cosy sweatshirt and leggings, enjoying a cup of hot tea, and breakfast. The endorphins from my work out are surging through my system and I am infused with a wonderful sense of wellbeing. Life right now feels very good. I am not sure what I am going to accomplish today, though I think banana bread is on the list. I will post the recipe shortly as I think I have found the best recipe ever. I may also make some zucchini squares (well, baked in mini muffin tins) so they can be frozen for the Solstice Open House that Dan and I are having on Dec. 16. I want to get that stuff out of the way a littl at a time.
Tomorrow, hopefully, we will take delivery of a new bedroom suite. We went shopping at a Furniture Liquidation last Friday, ostensibly to look for a coffee table. The coffee tables were awful. It was the next to last day, so things had been somewhat picked over. So Dan and I strolled on, and there it was: a Sleigh bed, with dresser and armoire, in Oak, and on sale for less than half price. Right place, right time, and so there we were.
On a slightly sadder note, I just heard that one of my favourite commediennes,
Anna Russell, died on October 18th, just shy of her 96th birthday. Anna Russell was known as "the prima donna of operatic parody" and every time I listen to "The Ring of the Nibelungs (An Analysis)" I laugh until tears roll down. Her voice was described as "a cracked ming vase". She married twice, divorced twice, and is survived by one adopted daughter.
Go in Peace Anna, you brought laughter to countless people the world around. I can't think of a better legacy.
