I went to Woolies on my own last night, and found it very difficult to leave without grabbing a few rolls. HB's been with me when I've seen it on sale thus far.

I have an early-December birthday, so mum was always careful to start Christmas after the 6th. Tree up, cards out etc... Even though I'll be 29 next month, I still want to have 'me' time before Christmas starts (though I will need to start shopping soon).

This year will be the first time HB and I have put up a tree (although we bought it 2 christmases ago!). I'm very much looking forward to doing that - on Dec 7 :D

That's really cool that your mom made such an effort to separate your birthday from Christmas; one of my oldest gfs has a birthday on Christmas Eve - another has one on New Year's Eve (and funnily enough, so does her husband!), and i always felt kind of bad because they never had really separate attention for their special days.

And how fun - your first tree together! i'm so excited for you two!

I was due on Boxing Day... I'm glad I have that buffer though :) I'm an only child, too, so it's not like mum had to distract siblings from Christmas to focus on me :)

I know of some other kids born close to Chrissy and NYE who got to 'pick a day' some other time during the year.

HB is Jan 5, so never had a party, cos it's the middle of the school hols. We both enjoy having summer birthdays though - it's just such a long wait until the next celebration! :)

Jesus, go you! i haven't bought anything yet (oh wait, i did buy a Dora the Explorer house with figures because it was like, 40 euros off), but i told Steven i want a list from him by the middle of this week so i have plenty of time to order anything i may need to order for him. i also had the girls sit down and look through one of the toy books that came and tell me what they want, and i'm going to sit down and plan what i'm getting each of them so it's not a big rush at the end to get it all done. One of my big goals, besides baking, is to actually sit and get wrapping done on a regular basis - not just let it all accumulate until i'm bogged down with it. So that'll be fun and keep me in the spirit, too! So excited!

I just recently started wrapping in doses. I live in a small place and had to do it last minute when the kids were little so they wouldnt see what I had gotten them. Now that they are almost 17 and 15..I say fuck it and wrap as I buy so I can actually enjoy my Christmas Eve..damn it all!

Love you!!

The past two years i've been up ridiculously late doing Christmas wrapping, and i hated it. i mean, i love wrapping and stuff, but when it's last minute and i'm getting /no/ help from Steven - it blows goats, and it blows hard. So yeah, i'm making a concentrated effort this year to get my act together.

i love you too, gorgeous - we never talk anymore!

Rob and I were driving through a sort of fancypants apartment complex today on our way somewhere and noticed that one of the apartments had a full tree up and lit in their window already. I was sort of horrified, but I understand the urge to buy wrapping paper in large quantities. :)

For me it's the BUYING of the wrapping paper. I just keep collecting it but not using it. I always make a point of getting designs that aren't too specific, thinking I'll be able to use it for all kinds of things. Like, no santas or christmas trees but stars or snowflakes I'll get. Of course I never use even half of what I buy. It's about the buying, I think.
