You commie scum! What do you think you're doing?! What would compel you to do such a thing?
Your inspirational thoughts, not to mention daily signs of the apocalypse (posted once every few days, of course) are fit to be seen by all.
If you're paranoid about someone getting offended, the solution is not making your journal friends-only, which serves to block 90% of the potential readers because they can't be arsed to ask to be on your friends list (because they don't have an account, or don't know you in the first place). The solution is to use a higher level of abstraction. What the heck does that mean, you ask? It's simple. It just means that you take another "step back" and use more ambiguous names and such so as to cover your butt if someone tries to get offended. Instead of saying "so my friend in my Chemistry class came up to me and said 'you suck'" today, and then going off about how much of a prick she is, you say, "someone came up to me today at school and made a nasty comment. Let me tell you how much of a prick they are." If said friend then asks you why you wrote about how much of a prick she is, you're able to respond, "oh, haha, I meant that guy in my Maths class, who called me something else," and you're set.
Nevertheless, making your journal friends-only will only reduce the number of comments, and people reading in general, which kinda defeats the purpose of an online journal anyways, doesn't it?
I haven't witnessed communism on this scale since 'Nam. Or my final at 7:40 on Saturday morning. I can't decide which.
