Right.
So going backwards in time *g* last week was Phantom of the Opera (which was all
donna_k's fault, and
tikiberry too for not stopping me :P) and Avenue Q (with assorted fangirls :D)
Phantom of the Opera
So I love Phantom and my one time of (finally) seeing it was great but also... well had it's prblems which may be a theme I guess because going for cheap seats we of course had a restricted view...
On the otherhand it was fabulous really. We had the alternate Phantom, Nic Greenshields, and a handful of other understudies (Raoul was one I seem to remember) and they were all very good.
I would say this Phantom seemed to... the high notes didn't so much fall within his range as fall right at the top end of his range which was only a bit noticeable. On the otherhand I adored this Raoul's voice <3
I'll never get tired of the moment the chandelier starts to rise from the stage as the music begins. When it falls it's impressive but it's that beginning that really gets me as the set rises out of the stage.
♥
I do like Phantom though and I am both excited and worried about this whole sequel thing that's coming at the end of the year :-s
And then there were cups of tea and coffee and cake and Donna and I were GENIUS at the crossword in the Phantom programme and Tiki tried to read her book before Monday which went less well I think.
And then we collected fangirls and went for cocktails and food at TGIs and then practically ran to the theatre to slip into our nicely conspicuous seats in the second row...
Avenue Q
We had an understudy for Avenue Q too, Tom Parsons was playing Nickey and Trekkie and a Bad Idea Bear and OH *sighs at the memory*
We were looking at him in the programme and then they announced it and there were shufflings all over the theatre and I think most of our row were in love quite rapidly :P
So he was a GREAT success (very pretty and longish hair and beautiful eyes and bearing in mind I fell a bit head over heels for the guy who originally played that part in the West End and was afeared nobody could be as good... well yes.
Daniel Boys was FANTASTIC too. One of the reasons I went was to see this new cast. Though Julie was still playing Lucy/Kate (or rather again) but they were all fantastic in their own different ways and Daniel... Daniel was hilarious. Way over the top at points and camp as allget out when he was being Rod and just perfect.
Theyw ere all in a bit of a hyper mood actually (I;ve never seen Trekkie Monster kiss Gary in the Lucy the Slut number before... and Daniel and Julie were killing themselves laughing when the lights went down on them during Loud As The Hell You Want.
We may have mentioned this at the stage door (which I totally accidentally ended up at without any deliberate effort on my aprt *coughs*) and the guy playig Brian said they were just so tired they did get a bit silly, apparently they only have 30 minutes off between shows on Saturdays! Dnaiel said, and I quote, "we were all a bit naughty" <3
So yes. Utterly fabulous and just as funny and I could happily go and see it again and again and again (well I'll have to see it in it's new theatre won't I!)
Oh yes. And the point of the visit?
Line that was: GEORGE BUSH is only for now.
Line as it is now: GEORGE BUSH was only for now.
Which worked... slightly disappointing though.
