However.
1208: Pellegrini made a right nause-up of this morning's 400m freestyle final, which was won by Britain's Rebecca Adlington. Pellegrini finished fifth.
1203: Federica Pellegrini of Italy has smashed the granny out of the women's 200m freestyle world record in the heats. Pellegrini clocked one minute, 55.45 seconds to beat the previous world record of 1:55.52 set by Laure Manaudou of France at the world championships in Melbourne in March 2007.
Dear Ben Dirs,
I reckon I can guess what "a right nause-up" would be if you weren't writing for the Beeb but "smashed the granny out of"?! I have never come across that phrase before and whilst I get what it means from the context WHY does it mean that?
Also please stop calling Andy Murray a sulky toddler. If he were winning you wouldn't care what faces he was pulling.
ETA Never mind. Perhaps he deserves it. Straight sets indeed (so can we claim he was holding back because it's the US Open soon? Didn't think so)
