Did you know the Church of England has a special prayer for the Beijing Olympics?

Well now you do! I quite like it too though perhaps posting it here with my rather international flist I should remove line three)

Prayer for Olympics

Everlasting God, giver of joy and source of abundant life,
we pray for all who are involved in the Beijing Olympic Games,
and especially those who represent Great Britain:
for their safe-keeping and well-being;
and as we celebrate the skill and resolve of those who compete
we pray that, throughout the Games, there would be
a striving for excellence,
a spirit of humility and fair play,
and a respect for others,
and that all who wait on you may find their strength renewed
in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ETA So on a scale of 1 to Chad Michael Murray (that's no fun when katie__pillar isn't around) 10 just how pathetic is it that I now have the BBC live text updates for the Opening Ceremony open? Because reading about it will be JUST the same as watching (obviously)

Answer: Probably slightly less sad than the fact that I've also got Tom Fordyce's twitter page open too as he's there.

ETA 2: And Tom is talking about mini milks ♥

ETA 3: On second thoguhts reading about it is probably a bad plan because I WANT TO GO HOME *wanders off to buy self lunch* which will probably consist of lots of sweet things because I am now officially sulking. :(
