Yesterday sort of didn't happen I think. I mean clearly it did but it was all a bit strange and I slept far later than I thought I needed to, got up and pottered a bit and went for a walk and then came home and fell asleep AGAIN and by the time I woke up I'd decided that my earlier pottering had to be enough for important stuff and if the world was insisting on being strange and topsy turvey then I was going to ignore it and just watch some West Wing.
Of course West Wing is a solution for most problems, the early series anyway, but I feel it might have been more helpful if I wasn't aprt way through series 1 and yesterday's first episode was Take This Sabbath Day... still West Wing is about a hundred times better than anything that was on TV last night, or on TV in general. And, of course, if you haven't seen CJ doing the Jackal you haven't seen Shakespeare like it's meant to be done ♥
All of which means I didn't post about Friday evening which was Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.
To a certain extent you can copy and paste any other review I've done of a Jools concert in here because they are always FABULOUS and if you haven't seen him live he should be hurridly rushed to the top of your "to see" list.
Of course there was one difference and that was Chris Holland who was smiling, looking relaxed, enjoying himself and looking (quite frankly) HOT in a sharp suit and hat <3
No really. I can't emphasise how good he looked... I liked the guy anyway, always have done and I LOVED the one time I saw him do his own set but he just looked to be having so much more fun this time and got a whole piano bit on his own after he and Jools duetted and both the other women I was with noted it to and yes.
Anyway.
Moving right along (a REALLY sharp suit)
So the singers they had supporting were as usual Louise Marshall (gets more fabulous every time I see her) who did a new song about Waterloo Bridge that was just her, Jools and Gil on the drums and which I REALLY hope goes on an album at some point. Then Ruby Turner who is, quite frankly, a force of nature (though I love her much more with Jools and the orchestra than on her solo album I fear). And then Marc Almond. Who sucked. MAJORLY sucked as in he was flat for one of his songs :S He should stick to Tainted Love and also should not be saved till last because after Ruby? FAIL.
They let the other backing singer girl (I fail on names, sorry!) sing a verse of Well Alright too which made me very happy. I do love that song and would probably actually cry if they didn't do it *g*
Other highlights? I love the trumpeters during Ruby's bit and their joyous dancing, I love Phil Veacock's rather enthusiastic attempts to get everyone to clap (and the other saxophonist further along who has an insane amount of energy and a pineapple) I had a moment as they introduced Dr Jazz when I was wishing myself back in New Orleans with all my heart...
Generally there was lots of dancing (so we didn't feel the cold) and GREAT music and Chris Holland being hot :P
And now I shall go and read more Breaking Dawn spoilers because they amuse and traumatise me in equal parts.
