Another weekend that seemed to zip past far faster than I'd like and in which I only got the bare minimum of my to-do list done. OH WELL.

Mind you it had it's moments, yesterday I went to see our local Gang Show with a bunch of Brownies and if you ignore the fact that one of them threw up (over excitement plus sweets is never a good mix, thankfully one of the other adults present was her gran so we all kind of left her to it, avoiding sick ftw\o/ and the Brownie is fine now) if you ignore THAT it was a great afternoon.

Also one ofmy ex-Rainbows was in it which is the first time that happened and it felt very weird (though she was amazing and I was super proud because she was pretty shy when she started)

St Albans Scout & Guide Gang Show @ Alban Arena

I always love the Gang Show but this was a particularly good year, a very young cast but some amazing talents in there. We had a quartet of girls sing Kiss from a Rose and a trio (two girls & a boy) singing Ruled the World with dancers both of which were really really good.

Some of their big song/dance numbers were pretty incredible too. They had a lot of fun with a Mr Men number (So Macho for Mr Strong etc.) including rewriting Candyman to Mr Man with all new lyrics. Oh and a great little set in an airport using Tired of Waiting for You for the queues *g* The BEST number though was aset all in a laundrette during which one of the tiniest scouts dressed as a red sock got into a washing machine of white laundry and as they opened the door the music to Red and Black from Les Mis started and I just couldn't stop giggling though the Brownies thought I was nuts (RED the colour of this sock, WHITE the colour that was past, RED the colour of this sock, PINK the colour that will last <3)

There were also a bunch of comedy number including using He 'Aint Heavy for a number about carrying a rucksack for a DC which ended with it turning out that what was in the rucksack was her brother which was quite funnier but got even more funny when I listened to all the Brownies around me very concerned because during the number they'd dropped the bag several times and how had the boy not been hurt (not noticing the way they took the bag off stage just before the entrance where the child was revealed!)

Also an amazing skit about lego which they'd built actual lego costumes for *g*

And then they did the usual finale with Just One Person which ALWAYS makes me get tear-y when the curtain goes up <3 and Crest of the Wave and We've Been Making Memories and then the National Anthem (we need to practice that with the Brownies I think)

I had a chat to another Rainbow leader who was there with her girls but although she said they were having a great time I'm still pretty secure in my decision not to take ours- apparently they asked at the end of every song if it was over plus I saw them taking girls out to the loo more or less constantly! A full Gang Show is a long time for 5 year olds!

Anyway that was my Valentines Day- Gang Show with 19 eight & nine year olds followed by supper & DVD with a couple of friends (and theoretical holiday planning... we shall see if that pans out)

And now apparently it's almost Monday again /o\ though at least that means we're nearly at Pancake Day!
