And so we come back round to Advent and I wonder for the millionth time where on earth this year went!

It was the Advent Procession tonight which is one of my favourite services of the year but it does have this slightly less fun side because we rehearse 90 minutes before and then get given tea and becausemost of the acolytes are the youngest servers I spent half an hour saying "sandwich before cookies!" a lot of time and then arguing with an 11 year old who clearly hadn't eaten ANY of her sandwich whatever she said. I also felt massively hypocritical because aged 11 wouldn't have eaten sandwiches with pickle in either BUT I remember last year when all they had was sweets & crisps and it wasn't pretty. Then I had to sew a button back on one of their cassocks and I have never felt more like a grown up :-P

The service was beautiful as always with poems and readings and music including Blow Out the Trumpet by Martin Peerson which I love because I like music which sounds like the words (if you see what I mean) (weirdly the recording I just linked to they sing the exact reverse dynamics in the sound the alarum section than our choir )

At some point I should really start my Christmas shopping /o\
