If you, like me, missed Tom Hollander performing the opening speech from Richard III on Newsnight (live!) the other week then I'd highly recommend you take a look.

If it helps, I did see that production of Hamlet and was really disappointed in it, and I know someone else (possibly Liss?) agreed with me. And possibly it was just a case of Hamlet overload, or maybe because I had crap seats in the gods at the Lowry and could barely hear the actors (because they almost all mumbled), but I just didn't think it had anything new to say and therefore I don't think you missed much.

Apparently I still have feelings about this. *g*

I do sort of know that, nobody has sounded VERY positive about it so it was probably the right decision not to go but you know how I get with completeness of things. Actually this current burst of annoyance at myself is much more about my failure to see the World!Hamlet at the Globe before it sailed away for two years.

Apparently Hamlet is going to be the play I have a list of productions I WISH I'd seen (see also Mark Rylance as Hamlet & Toby Stephens as Hamlet)

Yes, it's all very well for me to sit here and tell you you didn't miss much, but it doesn't stop you wishing you'd seen it so you can judge it yourself nevertheless. This is the reason why I'm going to see King Lear in June after all!

Things that happen when reading at 5am: you misread a line above as "Chicken soup for the Shakespeare soul". I have visions of slightly nauseating feel-good anecdotes...

LOL this is not that at ALL! That's a slightly alarming (and definitely nauseating) thought.

That Hamlet was SO TEDIOUS. I love Hamlet, I love Rory and yet BLEH. So you didn't miss much.
