Whilst trying to sort my room ready for decorating (the carpet is being torn up two weeks today exactly...) I've been listening to the absolutely wonderful recordings of The Screwtape Letters by Andy Serkis (and assorted others). It's been quite a while since I last read the book and although certain passages are still very familiar to me others I'd forgotten entirely or struck me anew hearing them rather than reading them.
They really are very clever and Andy Serkis does an amazing job of bringing them to life! It's made tidying up so much less painful because I've been focusing on the letters more than the tidying. Of course in 6 months time when I can't work out what I've done with a vital piece of paper the plan may seem less solid!
I think next I'm going to finish listening to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show because I got about halfway through that. After that I'm not sure- I've got the whole of the Lord of the Rings on tape so maybe that? Or I'm WAY behind on Welcome to Night Vale but I find his voice is so soothing I have a worrying tendency to zone it out which is less than helpful!
Perhaps I should buy the first series of Warhorses of Letters and start to listen to that again from the start (although the little voice in my head has cried out against that idea -for me the grief is still to near- apparently the little voice in my head is as much of a LOTR geek as the rest of me :-P)
Apparently I am in an audiobook/play phase.
