Okay. Enough talking about last year, let's get on with 2014 and Fascinating Aida being their usual perfect selves ♥

Fascinating Aida: Charm Offensive @ Southbank Centre (Queen Elizabeth Hall)

Firstly if you still don't know who Fascinating Aida are then go and watch ALL the videos on their YouTube channel (or if you don't have time then try the OFSTED song or Cheap Flights) ♥

Secondly because they're absolute stars instead of having programmes on sale they put the Charm Offensive programme on their website for free so no dead trees and no spending a fiver on some paper (though obviously it's very sad for my programme collection).

Mostly though I just loved this show every bit as much as I've loved their previous efforts. Dilly said at one point that it was a more personal show than some of theirs and I can see that, certainly several of the "serious" numbers were really emotional (Look Mummy No Hands just made me want to cry and actually so did Out of Practice <3) but also...

Okay, so clearly I haven't been paying attention at all but it had never, once, occurred to me that Adele was born as anything other than a woman so when she started singing Prisoner of Gender it was quite a shock. It's an absolutely fantastic song though- clearly very personal but also funny in places and it got such an amazing reaction.

And of course the funnier songs remain brilliant ♥ They did do Cheap Flights at the end (Dilly grumbled about how long they'd been going before they had a hit *g*), the OFSTED song is ridiculously brilliant (and also, well you wouldn't believe it if you didn't know it was true!) Their Bulgarian Song Cycles included the rather wonderful rhyme of "Miley Cyrus" and "virus" and Taboo managed a mention of Harry Styles' hair *g*

And then right at the end they sang a Christmas song (which they claimed they were forced to by their producers *g*) which you should also watch but bear in mind that it's spectacularly NSFW.

Also I wanted to steal all their outfits pretty much- why aren't properly wide legged trousers more readily available as an evening-dress option?!

If you ever get a chance to see Fascinating Aida live just say yes!

concerts, comedy, fascinating aida
