The sky on the way home from Midnight Mass was filled with stars, it was absolutely beautiful and SUCH a contrast to the pouring rain on the way in.

I normally post a poem at Christmas but as this has definitely been my year of Shakespeare here's a Christmas quote from a distinctly un-Christmas-y play.

Some say that ever 'gainst that season comes
Wherein our Saviour's birth is celebrated,
The bird of dawning singeth all night long:
And then, they say, no spirit dares stir abroad;
The nights are wholesome; then no planets strike,
No fairy takes, nor witch hath power to charm,
So hallow'd and so gracious is the time.

Happy Christmas- I hope your Christmas (or whatever you're doing today) is "hallow'd and gracious" and if you need a peaceful moment then try listening to Laurisden's O Magnum Mysterium- our choir sung it tonight so beautifully that despite the tiredness for several minutes I was in another world.

shakespeare, christmas
