One day Livejournal is going to manage to properly communicate with us about a problem from the start and we will all know that the end times have come...

This post is going to be a random collection of things that have happened/I've been thinking about over the period LJ was down so probably not entirely coherent as a whole but never mind that.

Lizzie Bennet Diaries/Sanditon/Jane Eyre

So how are people feeling about Welcome to Sanditon now it's started? Because to be honest I'm finding it difficult to warm to so far. I know it's only two episodes in so it's maybe unfair to judge but it's not the YouTube element I'm having difficulties with it's all the audience participation stuff.

Basically the whole roleplay aspect and twitter and tumblr accounts popping up like mushrooms is actually making me unbelievably anxious- what if I miss an official account in amongst all of the fan-created ones? what if they're wrong and it really doesn't make sense without actually taking part? and the eternal feeling (and why is it I can't crush it even when I know it's ridiculous)- if I don't follow EVERYTHING that happens does that mean I'm not a proper fan?

*sighs*

So mostly I'm not enjoying it being here and having Gigi back because of all of that but hopefully when the plot kicks in things will be better?

Meanwhile I'm also watching Jane Eyre which has been created by an LBD fan and which is... interesting? To be honest I don't like the book Jane Eyre all that much but I'm intrigued by this. I'm interested to see what they do with some of the more difficult elements of the book and the girl playing Jane is engaging (but WOW I would not hire her to look after my child).

In other YouTube news, despite her reliance on box cake mixes, I have now watched most of Nerdy Nummies and there are a few things I'd really like to try out like the Lego Cake!

Next topic- Cycling (Giro d'Italia & Tour of California)

So definitely not two years in a row for Ryder Hesjedal and Bradley Wiggins is gone too :-/ (I am currently feeling VERY bad for Chris Froome because if Wiggins is gone from the Giro there is almost certainly going to be a huge fight over who gets to lead Sky for the Tour. Meanwhile good luck to Uran who is the last Team Sky leader left standing in Italy)

The last two days have, despite Ryder going out, made me really VERY happy. At the Giro on Wednesday we had a stage win by Ramunas Navardauskas (aka Honey Badger <3) who really is awesome and only gets let off the leash when his team leader doesn't need him. And then, in a strange Argyle tradition, Tyler Farrar won the Tour of California stage \o/ I don't understand exactly why Garmin seem to like winning multiple stages on the same day but it is sort of becoming their thing.

(then Jonathan Vaughters made me swallow hard as he reminded people that the reason Tyler's been slow coming back to the top ranks of sprinters was the death of Wouter Weylandt who was his best friend- I hope Tyler's here to stay for a bit now <3)

Then yesterday we had Mark Cavendish's 100th pro win ♥ SO proud of the Manx Missile and of his new lead out train (and yes Bernie tweeting to say well done to him and the team for looking after him did make me a wee bit wistful for their days together) followed by a stage at the Tour of California which Jens Voigt (always a favourite) won from a breakaway with Tyler following him in 2nd place by taking the bunch sprint AND leaving Tejay van Garderen in the lead.

But both races are still going strong so here's hoping for more good results (and for more tweets about Taylor Phinney & Mark Cavendish's epic chess battles)

Incidentally I forsee a lot of rewatched shows in my future now Mum & Dad are back in the country and need to catch up on Broadchurch/Bluestone 42/CSI/Glee/... other things. Though Mum & I did FINALLY watch part one of Victoria Wood's Nice Cup of Tea last night which was rather lovely. Tonight it's more Christian Aid collecting and then a last ditch attempt to find jeans for both of us and TOMORROW is a Rainbow trip followed by working so no Eurovision OR Doctor Who for me :-(

What else?

OH! If you haven't found it already I highly recommend the Obscure & British Comment Fest which includes some wonderful prompts I would very much like to see as well as some rather beautiful ficlets already including:
- Upstairs, Downstairs (2010) - Agnes/Hallam/George
- Anthropomorphic- Earl Grey/Lady Fingers
- A Chalet School/Doctor Who crossover featuring OOAO Mary Lou

Um... I think that might be it for now. Back to work (on both actual work and my reviews :-P)

pride&prejudice, chalet school, tea, doctor who, cycling, youtube, upstairs downstairs, fanfic
