So Thrilling Thursday or whatever it is they're calling it absolutely lived up to its name! I wish I could have been at home watching (well not that the cycling was on TV) rather than at work but just reading about it was brilliant and then this evening... well I'm not going to stop smiling for a while!

BUT first I have to finish off wonderful wednesday :-)

Paralympics Day 7 (the evening session)

Lots of yesterday's athletics fabness was people qualifying for Finals today but there were some sparkly trackside additions:

Bethany Woodward (T37) 200m SILVER MEDAL

David Devine (T12) 800m BRONZE MEDAL

All the cycling happened during the day so I posted about that but the swimming?

Louise Watkin (S9) 50m Freestyle BRONZE MEDAL

Elizabeth Johnson (SB6) 100m Breaststroke BRONZE MEDAL
and
Charlotte Henshaw (SB6) 100m Breaststroke SILVER MEDAL
(and gosh weren't they happy about it <3)

Rob Welbourn (S10) 400m Freestyle BRONZE MEDAL

Oliver Hynd (SM8) 200m Individual Medley GOLD MEDAL
(and his brother got 4th <3)

Which leads us to today! :D

Thrilling Thursday (or Day 8) at the Paralympics

Cycling first because my absolute favourite Paralympian going into these Games was Sarah Storey and I so wanted her to do well and now she's equalled Tanni Grey-Thompson's 11 Gold medals and I couldn't be happier! I maybe did a little dance in the office when she won...

Sarah Storey (C4-5) Road Race GOLD MEDAL

She didn't just win it though you understand, she went so fast she caught up with the Men's C1-2-3 race which went off 2 minutes ahead of the women and straight past them!

Apparently other sports happened today too though :-P Like our first ever sailing medals!

Niki Birrell and Alexandra Rickham SKUD 18 two-person keelboat class BRONZE MEDAL

Helena Lucas 2.4MR one-person keelboat GOLD MEDAL

And yet more medals in the pool...

Heather Frederiksen (S8) 100m Freestyle SILVER MEDAL
I love Heather's smile and I love that she and Josie Long seem so close & happy for each other despite competing against each other and most of all I love how surprised Heather seemed by her silver *g*

Susie Rodgers (S7) 400m Freestyle BRONZE MEDAL
(and European Record)
(and that was our 100th medal of the Games)

Josef Craig (S7) 400m Freestyle GOLD MEDAL
(and World Record)

Stephanie Millward (SM9) 200m Individual Medley SILVER MEDAL
and
Louise Watkin (SM9) 200m Individual Medley BRONZE MEDAL
and
Claire Cashmore came in 4th as well!

And then there's been the TINY matter of the athletics...

Ben Rushgrove (T36) 200m BRONZE MEDAL

Paul Blake (T36) 800m BRONZE MEDAL

Ola Abidogun (T46) 100m BRONZE MEDAL

Hannah Cockroft (T34) 100m GOLD MEDAL
(Hannah only doesn't win the most beautifully presented athlete this evening because Sophie Kamlish in the T44 200m had that cute flower in her hair <3)

And then this evening despite getting a wee bit distracted every time a Brit was racing...

Daniel Greaves (F44) Discus SILVER MEDAL

And the reason he was distracted? First

David Weir (T54) 800m GOLD MEDAL
(in style as well, maybe he was forced out a bit round that last bend but he's so skilled at not getting boxed in and when he goes he GOES even with his shirt all busted open *g*)

Followed swiftly by

Jonnie Peacock (T44) 100m GOLD MEDAL
Jonnie is ADORABLE and was cross with himself that he didn't run faster and said shortly before the line he thought "oh crap I'm in the lead" and he and Oscar hugged and it was LOVELY and the whole stadium were yelling PEACOCK PEACOCK PEACOCK and he dealt with it all spectacularly graciously given he's only 19!

And just like that we're over our Medal aim and we've still got three days to go!

cycling, paralympics
