Well I have to admit that Day One has slightly dampened my high spirits because if you'd asked me ahead of today's Road Race which rider I absolutely wanted NOT to win... well you can guess :-(
Still Box Hill was beautiful and we had a great view and everyone was so happy and cheering everyone on and we even had smooth and easy journeys before and after the race so today was rather lovely (other than that result)
Setting off at 6am... the things I do for cycling!
Our favourite sport- queueing (have to say we did very little queueing really, the organisation was pretty much perfect)
Our spot on Dormouse Drive looking downhill....
...and uphill!
Some pavement art- GO CAV, GO WIGGO, FROOMEDOG and (just out of sight) SET THE STANNARD...
and of course IT'S MILLAR TIME
The first breakaway group
Team GB on front <3 Froome, Wiggins, Millar, Stannard I think
One of the sets of stragglers (there were a lot)
The peleton going past above us
Michael Rogers when he was trying to jump out of the peleton
Team GB again this time with (I think) Tony Martin in the middle
A Belgian rider who might be Gilbert
Stuart O'Grady who was absolutely in charge of the breakaway and finished 6th!
Taylor Phinney or Tejay van Garderen... the commentators got very confused!
Our Yellow Jersey winner again <3
Team GB with Cav in shot this time
A random shot of the peleton which managed to catch Cancellera AND Vino (plus is that Greipel in the back?)
Watching the gymnastics highlights from earlier now which is cheering me back up again *g* I don't know all that much about the technical elements but some of those floor routines looked amazing.
Quite tired now and we've decided we're not going to try and get into London for the Women's Road Race (to be honest I'm not sure I could manage it... the 3 hours sleep I got after the Opening Ceremony are catching up with me!)
No GB medals for day one but there's plenty of time yet!
Oh and ETA I've edited my last post to include all my Opening Ceremony tweets... there are rather a lot of them *g*
