So today the Tour de France went up Alpe d'Huez... it's one of the somewhat legendary climbs of the Tour and for very good reason- mainly the 21 switchbacks:

(one of those corners is always orange these days- it's become a tradition from the Dutch fans to take it over. Slightly bizarre but a rather amazing sight!)

TDF 2011 Stage 19: Modane Valfréjus - Alpe-d’Huez

Pierre Rolland was quite happy to win... he kind of deserves it after all the work he's done for Voeckler keeping him in Yellow all this time. Apparently he said to Rolland that he was done for and he should ride for himself and so Rolland felt he couldn't let him down and ended up with a stage win and the White Jersey for his pains!

Nice to see Contador still attacking and trying to get a win/some time. It was a ridiculously exciting (read: unnerving) stage in places and yet everything still comes down to the Time Trial tomorrow... Andy & Frank need to lose less than a minute to Cadel and it honestly could go either way (any way! technically event Voeckler could get back onto the podium but we'll see!)

And Cav was outside the time limit but so was Rojas so he has a 15 point lead in the Green Jersey competition and every chance of holding onto it in Paris *crosses everything*
