So some of you have asked me for Iceland pictures...

I cut them down and then cut them down again but there are still probably 30 odd pictures here *g*

Hallgrimskirkja and Leif the Lucky looking out towards America

View from Hallgrimskirkja

Ingólfur Arnarson, the first settler in Reykjavik. (It snowed ALL DAY Tuesday)

Parliment building in a near blizzard :-/

What do you do in a blizzard? Coffee and cake!

City Hall on Lake Tjörnin

Lake Tjörnin (means pond!) which I walked round in the snow and my boots abandoned their waterproofing somewhere along the side this photo is showing

Thought my knitting friends would like this!

Start of the Golden Circle tour, see that golden glow in the centre?

Greenhouses! Where they grow fruit & veg, all heated with geothermal energy.

Volcano crater! Called Kerið (the Bowl)

Faxi (or Vatnsleysufoss) waterfall

Stokkur geyser, it goes off every 5-10 minutes! Unlike the original "Geysir" which only goes off maybe once a year after the threw so much rubbish down it in the last century.

Gullfoss- the Golden Waterfall

In the summer there are rainbows in the spray but it was stunning in the winter too.

Icelandic ponies <3

They didn't seem very bothered by the cold.

Þingvellir National Park- This is the start of the rift on the Eurasian Plate

And that rock of wall there is the North American plate! So weird being between the two.

The water is so clear because it's filtered through the rocks. And why is it people ALWAYS throw coins into water?

Looking across Þingvellir national park from the place where their parliment met from 930 AD!

View point at Þingvellir

The waterfront in Reykjavik looking across to Mt Esja

Looking towards the harbour in Reykjavik

Sólfar: The Sun Voyage. Minus the sun *g*

Parliment without the blizzard!

The statue is Jón Sigurðsson in the centre who was the leader of the Icelandic Independence Movement but died before they gained independence. In the back is the Cafe Paris where I had a very yummy brunch.

Heading towards the hot springs at the Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon, a little piece of heaven <3

Sunrise on Mt Esja

My pony for the day on an Icelandic Horse riding tour.

Heading out across the lava fields

A pause in our ride, gorgeous clear skies.

Looking up at Hallgrimskirkja

Perlan- hot water storage tanks but a gorgeous building around them.

And inside? BOOK FAIR <3

Also this awesome fountain :D

View from the top of Perlan

View from the top of Perlan looking at the centre of town.

The level I'm on is the cafe and just above, in the dome itself, is a revolving restaurant!

Plane coming in to land at the domestic airport from Perlan

Northern Lights! They looked like a paler version of the top band to the naked eye but these are the ones I saw.
